As I said in the other BC topic Citizenship has been reduced to nothing more than being a mere resident. Citizenship has very little meaning any more and will be further reduced if Progressives continue to hold onto their prior passed laws and statutes.

65% apparently don't understand the Constitution. Neither do some in this thread. Majority rule is not the rule of law in this country.

Anything in the constitution can be amended.

So only the 35% "understand" the Constitution?

It's all about interpretation based on the original intent. What does the meaning of "and subject to the jurisdiction of" incline?
Please interpret for us that don't "understand" the Constitution.

Actually, there is a debate among legal scholars as to how the language of the constitution can be interpreted in a different way than the meaning is now understood.

There will probably never be any amendment, however, because special interest lobbying would circle the racism wagons big time.

I think in this day of the social welfare state, however, there needs to be a re-examination of the citizenship requirements. Honestly, we have enough trouble ensuring the needs of our own people are met, we really don't need to keep encouraging birth tourism or benefits births.

Majority rule is what determines the rule of law. Even the constitution can be changed with enough votes. The fact that 65% opose citizenship for the children of illegals doesnt mean they dont understand the constitution, it just means they think iti is either wrong, or wrongly interpreted.

Fat chance with this administration this would get done. And we should oppose this. Problem is with those that do not see a problem with this, they are part of the problem. And a administration who needs to literally kiss the hispanic voters.
