That could happen if he claims to be from there and is here illegally.

Does ICE not run background checks? So you give them false information and they just make huge decisions from it?

A 15 year old doing something irresponsible is to be expected. I don't see why more of the adults on here don't expect our civil servants to be a bit more thorough.

I'm glad I was a bit brighter as a 15 year old.
Are you sure? Or did you simply not have the same opportunities?

Sounds to me like she was desperately trying to get away from her family.

Probably another poor child who was physically and mentally abused by her family.

Houston police said the girl was arrested on April 2, 2011, for misdemeanor theft in that city and claimed to be Tika Lanay Cortez, a Colombian woman born in 1990.

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement official told The Associated Press on Thursday that the teen claimed to be Cortez throughout the criminal proceedings in Houston and the ensuing deportation process in which an immigration judge ultimately ordered her back to Colombia.

And I'm sure that would have fooled the Colombian consular officials.

She could also have faked a Spanish accent, that wouldn't be difficult at all.
See above.

She should do like the illegals here do if they make it in by the age 15, and start demanding college financial aid, a Dream Act.

I get the feeling from the news articles that she isn't the one trying to come back, it's only the same ones she keeps running away from that are trying to make this an issue. Colombia was where she wanted to be, a better place to run off to.
She didn't know a damn thing about Colombia.

Exactly. This wasn't the first time the girl ran away, and it seems this time she was trying to get as far away from them as possible.

Hey, you've got to expect some mistakes, right?

They do, if they're talking about Obama or someone......if something happens to a poor, misguided 15-year-old, well, that's just her fault. Nothing that can be done.

When someone is trying to get away from a family abuse situation nothing can be discounted as far as what desperate measures a person will take.

I wasn't that stupid when I was 15.
