Obama is going against the majority on this one.
Stop sueing states enforcing the law.

Checking immigration status should be done when pull over for another violation, just like checking for license & registration.

Whatever we need to do to get away from this implied two sets of laws we have now. One for Americans and another for illegal aliens. Amnesty is sure not the solution.

I believe what you saying is that immigrants must provide a green card (or some other proof that they are here legally) when stopped under lawful contact. That is already being done to my knowledge and it is within LE's rights to ask for them.

No it's not, the police, other than what are trained as 287(g), cannot act as immigration officers...

How are they acting as immigration officers? If a cop stops a car and the driver does not have a valid license, registration, and proof of insurance, it is not unlawful to request an additional form of ID, especially if the driver is suspected of committing a crime.

If cops smell pot when they stop a car, are they acting as drug enforcement agents when they arrest the driver for possession of drugs? I think not. Police have sworn to uphold the law. Why should illegal immigration be the lone exception?

I thought immigrants were mandated that they carry their green cards with them at all times. The only ones that can ask for them are LE trained under 287g?

My wife upon receiving her green card was instructed that she must carry her card at all times. It must be available if she is asked for it. to the best of my knowledge the exception would be minors.

The 4th amendment says otherwise.

Man that pesky thing called the Constitution.
