So you would not have parted company with a Supreme Court Justice who determined that blacks could never be US Citizens?

According to the Supreme Court that was the democratically decided upon law.

So you would have kept those Ni**ers in their place?
Blacks were American citizens and they never should have been discriminated against. You are comparing apples to oranges here. Illegal aliens are not citizens of this country and in fact they broke the law to come here. Blacks did no such thing!

So you disagree with Eleanor then that illegals should not have a voice in our government? Is that the way a Republic works? If so, where does it say in our government laws that illegals should be able to do so?

Your own family comes first. Of course, the negative impact of illegal immigration is debateable.

Uh; the negative effect of illegal aliens is HUGE when looking at MILLIONS of them here. Plus the rep they give Hispanics as a group; even ANTI illegal immigration ones, hurts even more.

I have said this before but for illegal immigrants to compare their efforts to get around our immigration laws to the civil rights struggle of black Americans in the 1960s is, at the ABSOLUTE minimum, GALLING.

You cannot compare these two groups' experiences. Illegals came here of their own volition, and remain here at their own volition. Black Americans were brought to the United States in chains by European slave traders beginning hundreds of years ago and were bought and sold in open air markets until the Civil War which was only 150 years ago...a relative blink of the eye in the scheme of human history. Even when slavery ended on paper, black Americans were still subjected to disgusting, horrific discrimination due to Jim Crow laws and were terrorized and murdered when they tried to assert their Constitutional rights. It's a shameful period of U.S. history. Even today, black Americans are dealing with the after-effects of so many years of institutionalized racism and discrimination.

If any group in this country has a right to ***** about the status quo (besides native Americans, who were displaced by European settlers and chased off their lands by "pioneers"), it's black people. They are the only non-native cohort in the United States that did not make the decision to immigrate here. They were BROUGHT here as property...as chattel. For illegals to compare their experiences to that is NAUSEATING. And WRONG.

This isn't white liberal guilt talking. These are cold, hard, unavoidable facts.

It's not debateable at all! Is it not the truth that illegal aliens are working jobs in this country? Is it not the truth that most of the jobs they are holding most Americans will do and have always done for a fair wage? For every job and illegal is holding it is one American who doesn't have it and can't feed their own family. Is it not true that the employers pass their social costs on to us and it increases our taxes? Is it not true that when they give birth to anchor babies (which we pay for also) that we will also have to support them through our taxes till they are adults? Is it not true that our crimes rates increase and therefore that means more of our tax dollars spent in our criminal justice system? How about our crowded, schools, jails and hospitals and having to pay for bi-lingual teachers? Education costs, healthcare costs are just the tip of the iceberg. The more uncontrolled population growth we have via illegal immigration the more demands it places on our natural resources and social infrastructures.

Now you tell me why your family of illegal aliens is more important than the families of the citizens of this country! Yes, my family is important to me also but I would never take them to another country illegally knowing that it will negatively impact the famlies of the citizens of that country. How selfish and arrogant!

What a perfect illustration of the moral bankruptcy and historical ignorance of the pro-illegal stance!

Illegals aren't freed slaves brought here against their will now rightfully demanding their rights.Americans who rightfully want our immigration laws enforced aren't slave owners violating basic human rights.

Illegals are trespassers who have broken into our country. They have no more right to stay here than the burgler has a right to live in your home. And about as much moral standing as the burgler whining to the police officer.

Mexicans are Mexicans. They have no inherent right to American citizenship just because they broke into our country without permission. Comparing them to the brave souls of the civil rights movement is both laughable and deeply insulting.

America is one of the least racist places on the face of the earth. We just elected a black president. We have literally allowed millions of Mexicans to move here. What's next? Are you going to Godwinize the thread and trot out the even more ludicrous comparison of illegals to Brave Jews Fighting Against the Evil American Nazis?

The illegal aliens also spend money here at businesses which employ other Americans. They help keep new home prices in line and one of them does a great job mowing my yard. If you are competing with an illegal alien for a job you probably ain't the brightest bulb in the house.

If a person really was destitute enough and they had the opportunity to come here and do better, of course they would come. It's easy for Americans with a reasonable standard of living to say "no, I would never do that." That's all BS.
