The proposal would require people filing tax returns to prove they're legal workers. The effort has roused anger among Hispanics and some Democratic lawmakers.
Why on earth would anyone oppose such a requirement, unless they're trying to protect illegal workers?

One option under consideration is to require tax filers to supply a Social Security number for the child when claiming the tax credit instead of requiring that at least one of the parents possess one.
Well gee, how many illegals will qualify for this? Let the floodgates open.

This will only encourage more illegal immigration and more anchor births. Once illegals realize they can qualify by using the SSN of their kids, they'll have a new baby to add each year. The filer should be required to be a legal worker with a valid SSN. This is insane.

The reason given that Hispanics are objecting to e-verify is that even legal Hispanic workers will be discriminated against. I ask, how so? Every new hire will have to supply a valid SS number that belongs to them not just Hispanics. As for the Democrat's objections I don't get it. They claim it is only the Republicans that want the flow of cheap, illegal labor to continue. Or is this just another way for the Democrats to pander for the Hispanic vote?

For the vote? Nah, just one more benefit to give illegals. Apparently they aren't getting enough as it is. It's coming to the point where citizenship won't be a requirement in the US.

Doesn't that seem to be government's priority for some time now? After all, they are protected under the 14th Amendment and the Consitution.
