Pay taxes to get them back? One only needs to show an income in order to file tax forms for which they can receive money back from the IRS. There is also a minimum income requirement, if you don't make this amount ($3,700 - $21,300) you don't have to file depending on filing status. Tax with holdings are not paying taxes, they are estimated payments as to what you might owe based on your gross net income. You don't know what your taxes are until the end of year, at which point you file tax forms with IRS based on your gross income minus your deductions to obtain a gross net income. Taxes are owed on this net income, now minus tax credits and they can receive back more than what was with held, resulting in a negative tax balance (over 50% of tax filers fall within owing 0 in taxes and receive back more than they had withheld - http://dmarron.com/2011/07/27/why-do...al-income-tax/). Here's a decent link to understand how taxes work. What Is the Minimum Income to Pay Taxes? | eHow.com

That's exactly what it is to the tune of billions. By the time the reality sets in, many illegals have already self deported and are laughing all the way to the bank at how stupid we are. Many of them come back euipped with another slew of false identities, ssn's and children when it's time to file taxes again.

I'm right. If you have enough deductions, you pay ZERO taxes, but if you get EITC not only do you pay ZERO, you get money that you never paid in, money that was never taken from your paycheck.

It's free money, not like the tax refund which just gives you back the amount taken from your check that you don't need to pay.

YOu mention the ACTC amount, which is lawfully claimed by those with an ITIN...

What income range, in reference to the EITC compensation amounts, are YOu referring to?...

How many children (EITC can be qualified for without children, but it is less common)?...

And how are the requirements of EITC for Social Security numbers satisfied?...

I know how some of my former neighbors did it.

They had 4 kids at the time, they were using a green card holder who was in on the deal. He would declare the kids as his on his income tax return but he was mostly disabled and worked very little so he was very low income.

These people planned ahead because they had the green card holder as the father on the birth certificates of the kids. The mom was a single mom on getting food stamps, Head Start, WIC, and government housing thanks to all the kids born here, but she never worked here.

Jorge the father would work for cash so he didn't file an income tax return or pay into any kind of taxes but he got to live for free with his girlfriend and their 4 children.

The green card holder would use the 4 kids for child tax credits and claim EITC with them and the 3 adults would split their winnings.

Not one of these people ever finished grade school or could speak English and to come up with such a plan makes me believe it's a very very common practice that all illegals know about and use.

After all, by definition, illegals have zero respect for the laws of this country.

The followup of this example - ICE was looking for Jorge but I'm not sure why, so the couple and their kids went to Colorado but the green card holder ran into problems because he always needed money for booze and got messed up with some Aztecas and started dealing drugs. He ended up spending too much money on his alcohol problem and pot, and couldn't pay up. The Aztecas beat the crap out of him as warning but no one would lend him the money to pay them and he was found dead in Juarez, very unlikely he went there on his own because he had sold his green card too many times and the government was slow this time to send him a replacement. At least he's no longer involved in these scams on us poor taxpayers. One less EITC check for him, but I'm sure the couple has figured out some other way to get it.

Are YOu understanding that the EITC was capped at a maximum of two children for the time YOu are relating the story? For "very low income", the EITC amount is not going to be much (if YOu would look it up on the charts). And of course they had to use an unusual agreement with a Legal Permanent Resident.
