What a patriotic body this Arizona Senate Panel is. This will be the nail in the coffin to end 'Birthright Citizenship' one way or another. It is a bold step that will stop the infiltration of illegals into our country and it will save the working United States taxpayers billions of dollars due to these so called 'Birthright Citizenship's' that have put a serious burden on our nation. It's time to adhere to the founders original intent of natural born Citizenship when it comes to Article 2 Section 1. It's time to adhere to the original intent of the 14th Amendment and enact President Eisenhower's government plan he used called 'Operation W*tback' to round up and purge the remaining anchor babies wherever they are from the U.S..

Immigration fight: Bill to end 'birthright citizenship' advances in Arizona - CSMonitor.com

A Senate panel on Tuesday gave a nod to a set of bills that deny 'birthright citizenship' to children born to illegal immigrants in Arizona. Other measures to continue the state's illegal immigration crackdown are also moving ahead.

Feb. 23, 2012 -- Tucson, Ariz.

Arizona lawmakers aren't finished yet in their push to make life more difficult for people living in the state illegally. Less than a year after passing a tough immigration law that prompted protests, boycotts, and a federal lawsuit, they are advancing an array of new measures to crack down even harder on illegal immigration – with some of the proposals just as likely to attract legal and civic resistance.

In a challenge to US Constitution’s 14th Amendment, a Senate panel in the Republican-controlled state legislature late Tuesday gave the green light to two companion bills that would deny automatic US citizenship, sometimes called "birthright citizenship," to children born to illegal immigrants.

If that law passes, it is guaranteed to get overturned by the federal courts. Arizona does not get to determine who is a US citizen, that is a federal matter.

This is just useless political theater.

Correct. Arizona Law cannot trump the US Constitution.

You do realize this is useless theater, right?

The funny thing about this bill and the article the OP posted is that Russell Pearce the state Senate President that was pushing for these laws is no longer a state senator. He lost a recall election based mainly on backlash to his racist, nativist views and the SB1070 fiasco.

I don't think that even the lunatic governor Brewer is going to sign this into law during an election year. If she does, people will look back at this as the event that handed Arizona's electoral votes to Obama on a silver platter.

Although I agree with the principle of the law it has no chance standing up to constitutional scrutiny. None whatsoever.

Do the illegal alien supporters in here think we should renegotiate the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo?
