What about birth from permanent residents or one parent is a permanent resident and the other a US Citizen? Would the child get citizenship or residency status?

Back to my question, would the child of a legal alien retain the citizenship of the resident's home county or become a legal resident as their parent(s)?

I'm not sure why some think getting rid of birthright citizenship in the U.S. is such a radical idea since if you look at the policies of other Western countries, the U.S. is in the extreme minority by still allowing it. Almost all European countries DO NOT have birthright citizenship. Our constitution was amended in civil war era to grant U.S. citizenship to freed slaves, NOT so illegal aliens can come here and have anchor babies.
