Should have been stopped a long, long time ago!! That era has ended. It is a law that is no longer needed especially now since it is being so abused!!

Wow! I'm speechless too! From that article:

In 1994, 74,987 anchor babies in maternity units cost taxpayers $215 million in Stockton, California.
That works out to 205 babies born every single day of the year in Stockton! I didn't think Stockton's population was that big! Where are they putting all the babies?! And this information is 13 years old! It must be more than 205 babies everyday now! How many hospitals are in Stockton? And how big are the maternity wards?!

Most countries do not allow birthright citizenship for immigrants. Make sure you pass this petition on to everyone. It's time we put a stop to this damaging practice!
You bet! I signed that baby as soon as I heard about it. Thanks for putting it out there.

I certainly support the end of birthright citizenship, but I don't think the proposed legislation will pass, and by some miracle if it passes, I doubt Bush will sign it.

A much more practical approach would be simply for SCOTUS to properly interpret the 14th amendment.

That seems like a really high figure, incredible really. I'm aware of this issue in Stockton and other areas of CA, but 2 out of 3 births are 'anchor babies'. Is there a reference on a credible web site that states this value?

I'm curious as to the overall financial impact on the affected states (CA, AZ, etc.). How significant are these expenses to the state's economic health? Are there cutbacks in other areas of the budget? Is it pushing these states towards debt?

Yes, it does "sound" incredible...but all you have to do is live there and see for yourself! For those who live there we didn't/don"t need to have it in black and white...we could/can personally see it. The state's economic health is horrible. Ca. is in dept big time. Everyone that lives there knows why..now to fix it.
