But Heineman compared that amount with what illegal immigrants would get if state senators, as expected, give final approval for LB 599, the prenatal bill. The average cost of prenatal care has been estimated at up to $2,000 per mother.
"We're giving $50 in tax relief for middle-class families this morning, and we're giving $2,000 for illegals. That seems out of balance," he said.
Why not, we already have an implied two sets of laws in the U.S. now. May as well create a complete separate Society for the "poor illegals". No taxes, no laws, free services. What a Country.
I'm not going to follow your link because the entire premise of this thread is a lie.
There is no such thing as an anchor baby. An illegal alien who bears a child in the United States does not thereby gain the right to remain in the country.

Why are there so many illegals dropping anchors in the US and not being deported? Is that the law? If so, then why isn't the government enforcing that law? If it did, half of the illegals would be gone by now.

And I am quite sure that you know that.
Technically having an anchor baby does not by law give the parent/parents here illegally the right to remain in our country but that isn't what is happening. Obama just gave 300,000 illegals a pass on deportations. I imagine many of them have anchor babies. We hear the sob stories about the separation of families all the time. Some that have committed serious crimes and that have anchors have been deported but overall, no. If anything the parents are anchoring themselves unto our welfare system because these babies born on our soil are deemed U.S. citizens by the wrongful interpretation of the 14th.

1. There is no "technically" about it. Having a baby in the United States does not give the parents here illegally the right to remain.
2. Children born in the United States are not "deemed" to be citizens, they are citizens, and the 14th amendment is correctly interpreted to mean that.

Did you not read my explanation about the "technicality"? Deemed means the same thing as they are under today's laws and no, the 14th isn't not being interpreted as it was intended. Perhaps you should search for the numerous topics in here about this subject and the arguments presented by member "Liquid Reigns".

I ignore any poster that uses the term anchor baby. Reasonable people call them by their true name - United States citizens.

It gives them the right to collect welfare on that child's behalf. No one should be allowed to violate our immigration laws and then turn around and demand that we reward them financially for having thumbed their noses at our laws. Many illegals constantly argue that they should be allowed to stay just because they had a child here.
Census Bureau data reveals that most U.S. families headed by illegal immigrants use taxpayer-funded welfare programs on behalf of their American-born anchor babies.
If one wanted to talk true immigration reform and not just the reward the lawbreakers nonsense the pro-illegals talk then we could start by ending that fact. The constitution should be correctly interpreted. If neither of your parents are here legally you should not be given American citizenship.
But hey isn't this what our leaders our doing. They don't seem to care, while our Country is broker then broke. They seem to not care laws are being violated and trampled on.
This system of ours, almost makes it easy for them to stay.
If someone really wanted true immigration reform, don't you think they would towards this goal.
Something different. And someone needs the votes.
