Net migration from Mexico has plummeted to zero thanks to changing demographic and economic conditions on both sides of the border, a new study says, even as political battles over illegal immigration heat up and the issue heads to the U.S. Supreme Court.
After four decades that brought 12 million Mexican immigrants—more than half of them illegally—to the U.S., the curtain has come down on the biggest immigration wave in modern times.
I don't understand how this is particularly good news. One washes the other one out, doesn't it? That means we still have the same net number of illegal aliens here from Mexico.

They will either stay or eventually leave. If they stay and have children these future children will be United States citizens. As they grow up they will come to realize two things. There will be one group of people who take every opportunity to insult them, their parents and their culture and there will be another group that does not. These children will eventually grow up. Quite of few of them will get voter I.D. cards after all thats their birthright as United States citizens. When they step into the voting booth 10, 15 or 20 years from now are they going to vote for the people that insulted them, their parents and their culture or those that did not?
How do they count illegal comings and goings to come to that conclusion ?
They can't stop them from coming here yet they can count them once they step over the border ?

Call me synical but sounds like propoganda to me. Aren't we in an election year.
Exactly. No one is counting illegals as they come over the border. Nor are they counting the ones already here. In fact the government claims they can't find them to deport them, so how could they find them to count them?
The Obama administration has even called off deportations except the most vile criminals, illegals have been told they can remain here and their big amnesty is coming -- why would they leave now?
Minimum wage in Mexico is still about $0.50 an hour -- they still can easily make 10 times an hour here if they work and if they have children the welfare handouts still come out to be far more than what they would get working for a living back home.

If they really wanted to make their country and culture proud, they'd go back home and do something for their country and culture. Mooching off the USA while despising the American people and culture doesn't make them proud.
As long as they have the attitude that abandoning their own country because the money and materialism in the USA is so much easier, the regions they leave will continue worsening.
And you are apparently not in agreement with these media reports that illegals are returning home because you agree they plan to stay in the USA getting all their easily given "rights" versus going home and working to get rights there.
When the jobs start shifting to Mexico, and Americans need work, there will be a big wall stopping them.
