Under the administration plan, illegal immigrants will be immune from deportation if they were brought to the United States before they turned 16 and are younger than 30, have been in the country for at least five continuous years, have no criminal history, graduated from a U.S. high school or earned a GED, or served in the military. They also can apply for a work permit that will be good for two years with no limits on how many times it can be renewed.

The policy will not lead toward citizenship but will remove the threat of deportation and grant the ability to work legally, leaving eligible immigrants able to remain in the United States for extended periods. It tracks closely to a proposal offered by Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida as an alternative to the DREAM Act.
How does an illegal serve in the military?

Yay, another edict from the White House! I had this silly notion that our Founding Fathers fought to bring a republic to this nation and not a monarchy or dictatorship. But clearly I was wrong. It was always intended that when Congress didn't pass a law that some people want, they should be fully OK with the President not enforcing a current law and bypassing it to facilitate that new law instead.

See, we don't need an amnesty bill. We'll just ignore the laws on the books and make them up as we go.
Don't ya love how this administration works ?

Passing a law through congress and issuing diktats are two different things. Congress has already repudiated the Dream act. Congress is essentially the voice of the American people, Obama has ignored that voice and will thus pay a price for that.

This here, is what you call desperation. Not that he did this, we all know he spits on our Constitution and our laws. This is something he wanted to wait on until the Fall. Things are going poorly, he needs another distraction, and he needs a Catch, Release, Vote thing going so he bypasses Congress.

Hey, I know how to solve this dilemna; crank up Napolitanonuts to make a speach that it's the Canadian border that's the real problem thereby deflecting the optics off the illegal immigrant problem, she could say something like it's the longest undefended border in the world which should get everyone quaking in their shoes and looking north instead of at the illegal sealing their driveway. . . . Oh wait; Obama already did that one! Yeah, but it'll work again, it always does..

He vetoed legislation passed by the MA Legislature that allowed illegals in-state tuition at public colleges and universities in the state.

He set up a program where state police would have been deputized by ICE to enforce federal immigration laws, but it was never put into place because his successor - Deval Patrick - reversed it.

He also said he would veto proposed legislation that would have allowed illegals driver's licenses, but the Legislature did not end up passing it.

They can, with bogus "green cards" The policy is to discharge/deport when they are discovered. But all are NOT discovered, and most serve honorably.
