So, I am confused...are illegals coming here to live off the taxpayer and collect welfare? Or are they coming here to do the low wage jobs the rest of us don't want? Both arguments are being used, and amusingly often by the same people...so, feel free to pick one and argue it.

Go...........................................

What do ya'll think of the Miami girl, who:

* was brought to the United States when she was an infant;
* a valedictorian at her high school
* Ivy-League bound

Do you really think it's conscionable to deport her? Do you think it benefits our society to deport such promising individual due to the "bad" choices her parents made over a decade ago?

There are a lot of promising individuals in the world that waiting in the immigration line for years and decades, paying thousands for immigration fees. And why this girl suppose to jump ahead of the line? Just because her parents jumped over the fence?
My morals are very simple: A person and his family does not suppose to enjoy the fruits of a crime. So with all the respect to her ivy league etc, she needs to leave to her country and apply for visa at the USA consulate, like everybody.

I can get behind that.

Tough Luck. She needs to wait in line like everyone else. She is taking an Ivy League "seat" that rightfully should have gone to an American citizen. What do you say to the prospective American-born Ivy league prospect who was denied that "seat" due to this illegal?

Ivy seats are not only for American citizens.

Let me help you. When did I say the economy started to decline? Under who`s watch did I say it started to decline? Is bush a republican or democrat?Ok. Now let`s move on to the next point.

Has the economy gotten better or worse in the last 4 years? Has unemploymnet gone up or down in the last 4 years? Has our national debt skyrocketed or gone down? Which party would you say is seen as softer on illigal immigration? Who would you say the illegals would be more prone to vote for? why?

As far as medicare and social security, you have your head stuck in the sand. It would be like if you lived a particular lifestyle that was costing you 10x as much than your income could allow. So you keep on spending and driving your family deeper into debt. Everyone keeps telling you that you need to change course ( or in the case of ss/medicare, a new revised plan), but you won`t listen. You defend your spending and the reason you drive your family into debt by saying noone wants you to have anything.... Noone cares about you. So you keep spending, but when you die, your kids are settled with enormous debt because you refused to change. You lived your lifestyle but now your kids are stuck paying the price for it.

That is what entitlements are doing to this country. Yes, it would be great if we could all just live off of the government. Then we would all be fat dumb and happy. But that isn`t the way the real world works. The government isn`t 10 guys sitting in an office with trillions of dollars to hand out to whoever comes along and says they need it. There is only so much money to be spent. You cannot spend more than you have. It weakens us in every way and we become slaves to whoever owns our debt.

You might say that the rich aren`t paying their FAIR share. But the top 20% of people pay the overwhelmingy majority of the taxes and the bottom 50% who pay NOTHING, live off of those benefits. You could take all of the money that the millionaires and billionaires in this country have ( not just a bigger share, but ALL of it) and it still wouldn`t make a dent in the national debt.

The problem is, people like you think money grows on trees and the government`s job is to forcibly take it and spend it however they see fit. The point is, there is not enough money to keep funding these programs as they currently are. So you either come up with a new revised plan or you sit there and think everything is great and one party just wants to take everything away from the bottom 50%. Meanwhile, in20 years you won`t have social security or medicare because they will have long since been bankrupt.Andthose poor people you are crying about now won`t have squat because you were too busy pointing fingers anddidn`t see the train coming down the track that ran over everybody.

So get your head out of the sand. Things have to change. THERE ISN`T ENOUGH MONEY to support everyone who doesn`t work.

Good, then m0st Americans will be poor with no government social net while the few wealthy Americans bribe politicians for their special interests and have governments bailout to save their financial butts... and then using that money to expand and hiring people overseas... while also providing illegals with jobs off the books.

Illegals are supported by those same wealthy Republican interests... thats why they will always get funding... but you are too busy taking away benefits from average Americans to comprehend that.

Republicans always find money to pay for government programs they support and any additional wars they want to wage so what's all your talk about not being able to pay for government programs... Repubs don't want to cut all government programs, they only want to end programs that affect them the least... simple as that... but the spending will go on.

So stop complaining about your rights being taken away for others when you support taking away aid for other average people like yourself... you are the same as other average americans who are less important than the wealthy and the illegals.

Republicans like yourself are too busy complaining about lazy unemployed americans and eliminating SS medicare & minimum wages for Americans to really get rid of those hard working employed illegals who dont get unemployment, SS or Medicare or minimum wage anyway... Illegals are the perfect new Americans for them.

Too bad poor Republicans don't get any of benefits from their own ideology.

The continuing trend for using overseas and immigrant labor is inevitable but at least Democrats are willing to spend some money on behalf of the middle class to try and ease the painful economic transition. No Repub or Democrat will end all spending... when they eliminate one program, they will simply give more money to another program... so we save nothing. The LAST social programs we should eliminate are those that provide for our own... but instead, the social programs for Americans are always the FIRST on the chopping blocks.

I may be poor but I`m not a republican. You just think that anybody who disagrees with you and your entitlement, someone pay my way, I wanna be a slave to the government mentality is a republican. You can label all you want. But what you believe isn`t what this country was founded on.

Who said it had to be one or the other. People can earn low wages and still get government assistance if you have children.
