So you say...........

Deportation of illegal immigrants increases under Obama administration

In a bid to remake the enforcement of federal immigration laws, the Obama administration is deporting record numbers of illegal immigrants and auditing hundreds of businesses that blithely hire undocumented workers.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency expects to deport about 400,000 people this fiscal year, nearly 10 percent above the Bush administration's 2008 total and 25 percent more than were deported in 2007. The pace of company audits has roughly quadrupled since President George W. Bush's final year in office.

I'm in Texas..front line here. When will it reach Maine ? By then it will be too late for Texas although I fear it already is.

Alabama's law is pretty good to go according to SCOTUS. It's driving out illegals to other states. Now if other states, follow, they will assemble in a handful of states and the people living there will either leave or vote our their politicians.

It's all about making their lives more difficult than it was back home.

Your Gov. Perry seems to think Texas needs a fair solution to illegal immigration rather than deporting all of them back over the border.

Perry only stays now because Texas in a unique prosperous economic situation. He would've gotten trounced by Medina otherwise, even with that Glenn Bunk phonecall she made.

But just like the other 49 states they can't do anything with their fugitive aside from calling ICE.
Then they get to wait for someone at ICE to decide whether to let the cop sit there on the side
of the hwy with their big fugitive capture for 20 minutes or 4 hours until they say "let 'em go".
We have Cities in CA with an ICE agent on the ready at the station. That's how it will probably go down. I'm way ok with that.

Well the open borders we have now isn't any solution.

The cost of illegals on the state is high. How high ? Well with Fed laws prohibiting asking about citizenship it's hard to calculate. The true fact is that we don't know how much illegals are costing taxpayers, both state and Fed levels.

It could be costing Texas up to $9 billion per year but that's estimates based on supplemental data that correlates to illegals. We don't collect data on illegals.

Whew! sound's like you guys need to get crackin and fix the state audit system. Maybe the state of Texas needs to build a fence along their border with Mexico. How many thousands of miles of border do you have with mexico anyway? What's the estimated cost of an effective border fence? 20 million a mile?
Certainly you wouldn't expect the taxpayers of the other 49 states to finance your fence?

actually it isn't. the "meat" of the law has been rendered useless.

the last part of the law, will probably be dealt in State Court (not the federal level) since one can claim that there are no strict rules as to how cops can pull over someone (anyone) and ask them about their immigration status. It can be abused.
