How in the world can this tear a town apart? The legal residents should be able to speak English! The word "racist" gets thrown around to much and how many people actually know the defination of racist? This is America--we fly the American flag and English is our nations primary language. Where in the world is the pride here????????

This is great news, and I am glad people are standing up and speaking out. I say tear down those MEXICAN flags outside their houses! If you cannot come to OUR COUNTRY and fly the US Flag and do it legally and want to be a US Citizen, and as well as learn OUR LANGUAGE which is ENGLISH, then GET OUT! Yes you should feel uncomfortable if you are an illegal !

You shouldn't equate non-english language with an illegal immigration status. there are definitely people stateside that have a non-english primary language and have immigrated here legally. its very important to make that distinction in order to civilly discuss this matter. as a nation, it is very important for us to keep our first amendment intact, which allows people to fly flags of any nation. if you do not agree with it, that is your choice. but you need to tolerate it, because no law is being broken, and it's a documented freedom of the united states constitution.the final thing i wanted to bring attention to is that the united states has no official language. im sure youre aware of that, but that means that the speaking of spanish or tagalog or any other non-english language is also not prohibited by any sort of law, nor is it restricted by our constitution. again, you do not have to agree, but you have to tolerate. it is strictly up to you whether or not you want to learn another language. being bi or tri-lingual is a sign of further education, as many foreign countries have a populace that is such. if you choose to shun all other languages besides english, you will have a difficult time immersing yourself in the multi-cultural nation that we have always been. suppression is not the answer. understanding is.

I speak four languages and I think the USA should adopt English as its official language and require English proficiency of all immigrants with few exceptions.

No one catered to my German only grandparents, they had to learn English to work and do other day to day things. They managed to do it, illegals today have NO excuse.

What four? I speak English of course, German, Spanish and a little Gaelic, although that one is very hard! And not used.
