They won't have authorized presence, what they have is simply deferred action, meaning they are not a priority for ICE or DHS, hence if they get picked up and jailed or for any reason whatsoever, or that ICE or DHS choose, they can be placed in removal proceedings and deported. There is no legality to this, they gain no legality at all. PRO supporters are attempting to make much more of this then what is allowed by DHS policy. The ACLU, PEW and various other idiotic "rights" groups are going to be exploiting evry little thing they think they can, all to no avail.

I guess they forgot about this. . .

Quote:
While this process does not provide lawful status or a pathway to permanent residence or citizenship, individuals whose cases are deferred will not be removed from the United States for a two year period, subject to renewal, and may also receive employment authorization.
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals: Who Can Be Considered? | The White House

Someone please explain why they should be granted privileges reserved for those with a LEGAL presence, when the White House clearly states they do NOT have lawful status. The ACLU has no case. And, any state is well within its right to deny benefits and privileges to illegal aliens.

They haven't forgotten; haven't you heard our laws only apply to our citizens. Prior to compliance, illegal aliens are allowed to pick and choose which laws to obey only when they benefit them.

HA..ID cards and then unemployment, and then....

Obama said work permits only. Treat them just like the migrant workers who do NOT get ID's.
Let them go to the Mexican consulate to get a Mexican ID if they really need one because they are NOT citizens.

I really don't know what the hell is wrong with the ACLU in 2012. Back in the day, they were good. No more.

Yes, the ACLU was once an honorable organization, courageously fighting to protect the legal rights of citizens. Now, they have been bought by special interest groups, most notably, the illegal alien lobbyists. They now do their bidding, and have long forgotten their original mission. In fact, one would be hard-pressed to find a more anti-American group.

They know they're fighting a losing battle. Even the White House acknowledges this is a state issue, not federal. But, they're doing what they're paid to do. I hope all 48 states that currently deny driver's licenses to illegal aliens will continue to do so. They should not allow themselves to be bullied by Obama. States are not obligated to issue licenses simply because Obama overstepped his bounds by promising illegals something he knew he did not have the authority to deliver.

Unless Federal laws change, which they won't, illegal aliens are ineligible to work in this country. So, unless the government plans to violates its own laws, their work permits won't be worth the paper they're printed on. Also, how can they allow one group of illegals to work, while denying employment to others? This would also create problems for employers, who, by law, are prohibited from "knowingly" hiring illegal aliens.

Unless 48 states change their laws, illegal aliens are ineligible to obtain a driver's license. States certainly won't be able to comply with Real ID by issuing licenses to people with an unlawful presence. If they do, under Real ID, DLs issued in those states would not be accepted as valid ID to board airplanes or enter federal buildings. They would then be denying all legal residents of their states the ability to obtain a valid ID.

Essentially, Obama has conned illegals into believing they are now temporary "legal" residents free to seek employment, obtain DLs, and enjoy life in this country, when nothing could be further from the truth. Obama should have been honest, and explained that DHS could only defer their deportation, and left it at that. He created this problem, so let him deal with it. Dreamies are so busy celebrating and submitting their forms, they are totally oblivious to the legal limitations of DACA. But, to their dismay, they will soon be forced to face the stark reality of their unchanged illegal status.

The first line of the first section of the 14th Amendment.
Until and unless that is dealt with... NOTHING else said or done matters a whit.

Reagan dropped the ball by ignoring this issue the last time an amnesty was allowed.

As for the ACLU and their efforts on the rights our law allows for...
Change the laws? You bet? Enforce Mazzoli against employers better? You bet.
but don't blame them for wanting to uphold our laws as written.
