Yup, the latest new brainstorm from the one-party legislature. Combine this with Motor Voter and you've got hundreds of thousands of new Democrat voters.
I see. More knee-jerk reaction without thoughtful consideration of the issues. MOD CUT
The driver's licenses in question would be issued to those undocumented who are being given temporary exemption from deportation by Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals ...
which program:
"gives a select group of undocumented immigrants the right to live and work in the United States for two years without fear of deportation.California is laying the groundwork for extending the privilege to driving, too, for an estimated 400,000 immigrants."
Allowing every California resident to obtain driver's licenses enhances public safety because nobody would be forced into the shadows, driving illegally, often without insurance, he said. "It's important to all Californians that we have motorists who are licensed, tested and insured," Cedillo said. Besides, it makes no sense to deny a driver's license to undocumented immigrants in Deferred Action who have a legal right to work, attend college and travel in the United States, he said. "These are people who are going to be contributing to our economy by seeking work, or pursuing educational goals," said Assemblyman Luis Alejo, D-Watsonville.
Why wouldn't you want these driver's licensed? ... which also provides access to being legal with insurance.

Is there not a STATE law like many states that prohibit licenses being issued ? No matter what OBama says, they are not here legally.
Not true. As of now, they are here legally ... for up to two years. Whether you like the policy or not, it is not your decision. Write your Congressperson. In the meantime, respect the laws of the land ... or is Texas exempt from that?
When will this crazy stuff coming out of Sacramento ever end? Never I fear. This state will get ever more loony and become more the laughing stock with each passing year.
You ask why shouldn't illegals have driver's licenses? Simple - because we should be making it as uncomfortable as possible for them to live in CA.
But instead we give them free education, free health care, all the welfare that they can steal and we set up sanctuary cities. Now they will get driver's licenses.
Our legislature would just as soon see Republican business owners scram out of California to be replaced by illegals who now have a way to vote. And to vote Democrat. Anyone surprised?
Sure hope we're not going to hear the argument about how we can't get our lettice picked without illegals.
Illegal means illegal. If you don't like it then change the law. But until then an illegal person should not get a drivers license or anything else.
Well, how will the lettuce get picked?
California agriculture relies 80% on undocumented labor.
You do know the value of the agriculture business to California and the nation, don't you?
You don't care about many billions of dollars benefit to California and America?
That's not very nice of you.

So bring people here to pick crops, then go home with a fat paycheck. Don't let their entire family sneak over the border and take up space in our schools and jails.
