Illegal is correct. And just the beginning of the criminal activity. It then goes to driving without a license, identity theft, lying about citizenship, forged documents, working without declaring income, for years, while living in the United States.
A great irony occurred...an "illegal" owned a business, he had employees, trucks, equipment, he never payed taxes, or reported income. No business license, no wages were reported, no Social Security tax or Unemployment Insurance payments. He was finally caught...and declared since he was not a citizen, those laws did not apply to him. Must be nice to have no laws apply to you.

Nothing like picking and choosing which laws apply to oneself, is there?
I'll take number 1 from column A, and number 3 from column B, thank you.

Because you say you are not illegal, does not change the fact that you are trespassing,
and are illegal. Criminaliens.
Why aren't other people who break laws called illegal?
Would you call Rush Limbaugh illegal? Al Capone illegal? OJ Simpson illegal???
It's only illegal when it's immigrants
Here's the difference. It would be silly to call a thief an illegal thief because theft is illegal anyway so it is an oxymoron. Migration can occur either legally or illegally theft cannot. There aren't two groups of thieves. One can't say they are either a legal thief or an illegal thief. A thief is a thief. However, there are two different types of immigrants and it is important to distinguish between the two by using the descriptive adjective of legal or illegal in front the word immigrant.
Racist? Illegal aliens come in all colors and some ain't "Hispanic". Hell; even Mexican citizens come in all colors, not all of them are brown skin Indians. Sheesh!

That criminal you talked about could still be nailed and face serious prison time.

If they are convicted they are called criminals.
Rush Limbaugh? Only charged, never convicted, never proven.
Al Capone? Convicted of tax evasion.
OJ? Acquitted in murder, guilty of robbery later.
Illegals are found guilty and placed into removal proceedings and/or deported. Illegals are simply here, illegally.
