In Arizona, young illegal immigrants battle governor's policy - Orlando Sentinel
Quote:
But Brewer signed an executive order directing Arizona state agencies to deny driver's licenses and other public benefits to illegal immigrants here even though they qualify for the Obama program. No federal program, the governor says, gives undocumented immigrants legal status in her state.
So Romo is fighting back. She's joining hundreds of other young Latino activists volunteering at the Arizona Dream Act Coalition to raise funds and rally support to protest the governor's actions. "I want to ask the governor, 'Aren't all human beings equal in this country?' And if so, why is she treating us this way?" Romo said.
To answer the bolded: NO, not all human beings are equal in this country. The DoI only states that "all men are 'created' equal", while the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment commands, that no State shall "deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws," which is essentially a direction that all persons similarly situated should be treated alike.

Since "Deferred Action" does not grant any "legality" to their status, they simply remain illegal immigrants and non-residents of the state of AZ, thus they are not granted any privileges reserved for legal residents or citizens.

They can go to California and get all the benefits they want.... Unless the state goes bankrupt 1st.

Maybe she should consider Chicago or Detroit.

That Romo is a fool. She is still an illegal alien and really needs to be quiet; people with her attitude are just pissing off more and more Americans. We WILL push back and it won't be nice. Sheesh!

Why is always Mexicans making demands on American leaders? Can't Romo go back to Mexico and make demands on president Calderon? Did it ever occur to any of them that if they all went back to Mexico with such ambition that Mexico might not be Nazi-Germany-The-Most-Evil-Country-Ever-You-Ignorant Americans!

Why the hell should we welcome Ms. Romo anyway? She admits to driving without a license or insurance. She could easily avoid doing so by getting a Mexican driver's license. She's clearly breaking multiple American laws yet she chides Americans for daring to ask to stop.

They just have absolutely no shame at all.

Absolutely nothing stops them from packing up and heading to California where they will be given the red carpet treatment.

The climate here is a lot different than a few years ago. Most businesses use I-9. Businesses are getting busted. The lots are not plugged with Illegals like 2000 to 2008. They had to go somewhere. What I'm seeing is many have packed it out voluntarily.

If Illegals or Dreamers think it's going to be a parade for them they are in for a very rude discovery. So, even if they can't get deported the climate here is drastic compared to back then. Come on down, be part of the Spanish speaking permanent under-class. There are no jobs, fight for the scraps.
