Looks like you and I will ride the ranges and sail the harbors with little company crowding around after all, eh?

Curmie, we sang Kumbayah around the campfire back in Boy Scouts. Are you implying Boy Scouts are gay?

Eh? Now, my aged mama who longer drives, and to take public transportation means walking with her walker out her 600 foot long driveway, crossing a 45 mph (only a suggestion based on the rockets passing by) road, with no crosswalk. And walking down the shoulder of the road a quarter mile to the bus stop. A frightening concept.

Argue with the feds. But they are now legal residents...and therefore should be able to drive.

To refuse to allow those legally here and legally working here to drive is stupid.
No, they have NOT "been made legal." They remain illegal aliens. Only now, they’ve been granted deferred action for deportation purposes, and some will be authorized to work. Actually, according to DACA, they are only eligible to get a work permit if they can prove they MUST work. After all, we have 23 million unemployed citizens.

Quote:
Deferred action is a discretionary determination to defer removal action of an individual as an act of prosecutorial discretion. Under this process, USCIS will consider requests on a case-by-case basis. While this process does not provide lawful status or a pathway to permanent residence or citizenship, individuals whose cases are deferred will not be removed from the United States for a two year period, subject to renewal, and may also receive employment authorization.

Nope. They are not "illegal". They are not "lawful" either as the law makes no provision to grant them permanent status. But they are legal. And they can get work permits. That is a fully legal status.

Very similar to those who fled persecution or the Haitians escaping the disaster there. Not lawful but legal. And generally with a time frame when they are supposed to leave..

Practically if they stay and can work or go to school they need a drivers license.

Right. And in 2 years they will turn in their work permits/DL/SS cards and go back to being illegal aliens living in the US ?
