How and why it happened, it may begin to change how you view immigrants.

It is nonsense to blame the USA for Mexico's failure to provide jobs for their own people. The discussions in this forum are about illegal immigrants not "immigrants".

But don't you see our government is responsible for many that flee their country both legal and illegal.

The U.S. war on drugs is also responsible for people that flee Mexico both legal and illegal, our government supplies the Mexican military and police that are well known to be corrupt with weapons and money.

Listen to what Ruben Garcia, Director of Annunciation House, El Paso, Tx has to say about the situation in Mexico and on the border at the Pax Christi awards event last month, again what he has to say may open the eyes and ears of those that have eyes and ears to listen and hear.

Our government is more responsible for not securing our borders and being in the pockets of corporations who want the cheap, illegal labor. Mexico is still the one responsible for providing jobs for their own citizens. Of course they love it that their underclass are fleeing to the U.S. and sending those billions of remittances back to Mexico to prop up their elite.

At any rate both scenarios are hurting American jobs and depleting our tax coffers. I will not nor should the regular American people roll over and accept it because of the corrupt elite on both sides of our borders.

Rubin said that the people of Mexico fear the corrupt police and military more than they do the drug cartels, he wishes that our government would stop giving money and weapons to Mexico and throughout Latin America

From the article:

Quote:
So, what happened basically is, in the '80s, as more and more Salvadorans and Guatemalans were fleeing into the United States as a result of the civil wars in their countries and the repression in their countries, they came here to the United States, and there were industries that needed cheap labor. And so, you had the meat-packing industry in the Midwest, began recruiting many Mexicans to come to Dodge City and to come to Des Moines and to come to all of these—the meat center of the country. And you had the poultry industry in Arkansas, and you had the textile industry in North Carolina. And they usually went by nationality. So you had a large Guatemalan population that developed in North Carolina. So, I think that's part of what I try to show in the book. And to a large measure, the film captures this process of migration: the push of the repression that occurs in the countries, in the sending countries, and the pull of American businesses seeking cheap labor.
So basically greedy scabs came here with the backhanded cooperation of our government and greedy employers . . . and ordinary Americans are supposed to be punished for it via higher taxes, demands to learn Spanish from people too stupid and arrogant to learn English and communities that have essentially been invaded by low skilled hispanics.

I don't think so. If Mexico and Guatemala are such hellholes then Mexicans and Guatemalans need to change Mexico and Guatemala. They have no legal or moral right to demand America's burdened middle classes change to meet their needs.

Agreed.

Tho the same thing can be said about Mexico and Mexico screams if THEY have illegal aliens. When it gets down to it; all of us started in Africa. Then's then and now's now: countries have borders and other countries need to respect them or they'll be war.

How about this. People come to this country legally, instead of trying to enter illegally. That would solve some problems. Deport illegal aliens and for those who come legally, they can come.
