The governor would have no jurisdiction in a city matter. There is nothing that she can do to stop it.

I laugh whenever I read this nonsense about illegals being afraid to report crimes. The word is out. They know if they call police to report being a crime victim, they may qualify for a U-Visa and legal status. Plus, since Obama has all but eliminated our immigration laws, unless they've been convicted of a violent crime, they know ICE won't touch them.

If you live in Maryland why would you even care what they do in Phoenix?

I care, because illegal immigration impacts this entire country, including Maryland. As a taxpayer, my federal taxes support illegal aliens in every state.

Please explain how Phoenix giving an ID to an immigrant directly impacts you. I am just not seeing it. The federal tax issue is just a red herring, this has nothing to do with taxes at all.

What difference does it make where one lives in this country? Illegal immigration is in direct conflict with federal law. Giving an ID to an "immigrant"? Didn't you mean illegal immigrant? There is a difference you know. I don't understand your last sentence. Benicar was merely pointing out that illegal immigration also impacts our federal/state tax coffers.

The legal vs. illegal thing is just a played out strawman. Do you support an expansion of legal immigration into the US? If not, your point is moot.

The tax thing is a complete red herring. Please explain how what Phoenix decides to do with immigrant IDs is going to change the amount of federal taxes that you pay. Not just anti-immigrant platitudes but genuine specifics, please.

Phoenix giving ID's to illegal immigrants would just be another gimmic or tactic to make them APPEAR to
be somewhat legit, when in reality, they have no reason to be in the country to start with.

Don't delude yourself into thinking they are afraid to call the law if they think it benefits thier agenda.
Phoenix is the new wild west anyway. 2 shoot outs, 1 murder, endless drug busts and a least 1 hit & run
every day. City ID's would just be another magnet to draw them here. It would just be another burden for the local law.
