A judge is supposed to be neutral in regards to law & rule according to the law.
I love how "W.D. Reasoner" (a pseudonym, someone that won't even link their real name to their opinion piece) knows no individual specifics to these cases, but tries to stereotype the judges from the outcome:

They may not necessarily be illegal aliens. It can be a Legal Permanent Resident accused of DUI, but the conviction fails. The alien can then contest the removal proceedings against them.

If they are illegal than they should be deported. As the article states they are illegal and many cases they are allowed to stay.

You're being confused when you see "immigrant"...
Is it any wonder since the PC term "immigrant" is used many times even when they are illegal immigrants? Yes, a legal immigrant can be deported but you can tell by the article that it isn't about deporting legal immigrants.
