A judge is supposed to be neutral in regards to law & rule according to the law.

I love how "W.D. Reasoner" (a pseudonym, someone that won't even link their real name to their opinion piece) knows no individual specifics to these cases, but tries to stereotype the judges from the outcome:

But what about those New York City immigration judges whose tenure preceded this administration? Well, a lot of them are undoubtedly middle-of-the-road, go-along / get-along types who are glad to have their highly paid sinecures and don't want to risk losing them. They remind me of prairie gophers peeping their heads out of their burrows and sniffing the wind to decide if it's safe to come out. You can deride them for their lack of intestinal fortitude, but you can't fault them for being stupid — they know which way the wind is blowing.
This is scraping bottom, requiring less of an author than what the typical requirements are for a Letter to the Editor of a small-town newspaper...

The specifics are they are illegal.

Outcome = Should be deported

They may not necessarily be illegal aliens. It can be a Legal Permanent Resident accused of DUI, but the conviction fails. The alien can then contest the removal proceedings against them.

If they are illegal than they should be deported. As the article states they are illegal and many cases they are allowed to stay.

The article is authored under a pseudonym, and does not use the word "illegal" anywhere in the entire article...

You're being confused when you see "immigrant"...

Is it any wonder since the PC term "immigrant" is used many times even when they are illegal immigrants? Yes, a legal immigrant can be deported but you can tell by the article that it isn't about deporting legal immigrants.

These cases cover any type that results in possible deportation, from the originating article:

Quote:
JoJo Annobil, the attorney in charge of the Immigration Law Unit at the Legal Aid Society, said he has struggled for years to get the government to adjudicate naturalization applications before placing the person into removal proceedings. Some immigrants face deportation even as they await notice on applications to be naturalized as U.S. citizens.
That particular line would mean at least some of the cases are Legal Permanent Residents...
