communism? no. socialism? sure. but our nation is a combination of capitalism and socialism. why not expand the role of socialism if capitalism creates too much wealth division (as its currently doing)? checks and balances work on all levels.

IMO their situation is much more dire. So if we are going to help people out, we should help those who are in worse situations first.
i can agree with the idea that we should provide foreign aid to countries that need it most. the problem is getting the money to the people that need it, and making sure it is not taken from them. setting up UN food banks in those countries would definitely be an excellent form of aid.

but the united states needs to address the problems within its geographical proximity as well. its a balancing act, but one we should be able to do with more appropriated spending.

It's not "xenophobia", it's common sense, Comrade.

if your point of view is so sensible, why hasn't it been effective?

Why, that's simple. Big Business has benefited far too much from ILLEGAL labor to want to make changes, and they run the government (both Reps and Dems). We, "the People" have sadly turned a complacent eye toward the problem as well for far too long.

Now that we are actually insisting on enforcing the current laws and pushing to add more, it IS changing; The ILLEGALS are fleeing towns that are strictly enforcing or threatening to enforce, immigration laws, like roaches from cans of Raid.

What they fail to realize is that there will be no sanctuary cities left for them to flee to sooner than later.

I'm against the forcible rape of minors. Occasionally it still happens, though. My disgust for this practice hasn't been 100% effective....

100% effective is different from a general effectiveness. while i do think that proactive solutions are not capable by our law enforcement agencies, im not sure of the best means of enacting proactivity against this sort of crime.

Wow! I just read through this thread. It reminds me of the game "Telephone".

On yet another side note: Has anyone else noticed that Vicente Fox has been showing up more and more on late night TV? Always on a remote, but it makes me wonder what he's up to, being all buddy buddy.
