Raising a family without fear starts with the fear part....are you afraid of crime or of individuals of an ethnic background?
It is not about ethnicity but its about illegality. The fact that some people broke the law to come here says a lot about their mentality and what regard they hold the law. Places far from the border are crawling with illegals. Here in Maryland, the worst gang in the state is run by illegals from El Salvador. In DC last year a bus driver was shot and almost killed when gang members fired at each other across a downtown street where hundreds of bullets were fired.

Also very disturbing is the mentality of many illegals that because Mexico used to control the Southwestern quarter of our nation, it should still belong to Mexico and they still have the right to live there. The signs in the illegal protests in LA last time were not just disgusting but also frightening, how racist and militant a lot of these people are. My parents are legal immigrants and these people are a disgrace and an embarassment to people who play by the rules and actually care about America. Liberals and Democrats also ferment this kind of mentality and race-based politics for their own political gains.

What our country should do is threaten to reduce foreign aid to the countries that are sending illegals here to off set all the money they are costing us.

Colombia actually does not contribute many illegals to the U.S. The majority come from Mexico and Central American countries. Where I live the majority are from El Salvador and Honduras. Colombia's aid is necessary to help fight the war on drugs.

Remittances from illegals are the second biggest source of revenue for El Salvador, after drugs. Remittances are important to Mexico, below only oil, tourism, and manufacturing. And all the other 3 sectors are dependent on America too since we buy Mexican oil, our companies outsource jobs to their factories in places like Tijuana and Juarez, and we fill up the hotels in Cancun.

And no doubt we will continue to survive. The issue is not mere survival but preserving our way of life, our culture and our heritige. The issue is about doing the right thing. The issue is about obeying the laws of the land and taking responsibility for ones actions. Should we simply allow these people to stay because they are already here? Amnesty is not the answer. If we were were to grant amnesty for all illegal aliens whose only crime were to enter the country illegally, i.e.-those who did not; commit identity theft, falsify employment verification documents, attempted to or did unlawfully collect food stamps, ADC, etc., lawfully paid taxes, learned the english language, etc., just how many do you think would qualify?
Do you really think that all these things should be overlooked and if so, why???? I know that the general concensus is that without these people many industries would go broke but this is just a sham. Perhaps they wouldn't be able to realize a 1000% profit margin but they would not be filing for bankruptcy!

Illegals in Las Vegas certainly fill "jobs Americans won't do."

They're on every street corner wearing sandwich boards and flicking "Sexy Escort Girls" trading cards in your direction as you walk past.

What would we do without them!?

And; whenever it is thrown in the face of the Mexicans that the Hispanics 'stole' the land from the Aztecs, etc the former group squirm uncomfortably.

Better yet: I am starting to remind the 'La Raza' types that they disobeyed Spanish law when Mexico fought (and won) its independence from Spain ca. 1821. Had Mexico lost; many people would have been executed for treason.

I just looked at your Profile and chuckled: one of your 'ethnic' compadres who just passed away in Louisiana was quite a charactor-----Sheriff Lee. RIP

Can you cite these hotels that aren't paying minimum wage? Having lived in Nevada for nearly three decades, I don't recall any stories documenting hotels paying less than minimum wage. If you are aware of this illegal activity, I would expect the media to know of it as well.

Question: Do you support abolishing the minimum wage?

WRONG!!!!!!Nobody wants to do these jobs for Illegal sub-par wages. These "business owners" live in expensive houses, drive expensive cars and profit greatly by illegally employing these people.Who did these jobs before? Who does these jobs in parts of the country that don't have large Illegal populations?

This thread should have remained dead. Its one of the most absurd post with the repetitive ignorant comments like...

The Social Security office is overloaded with illegal immigrants to where "Americans" can only attend three days out of the week. How does the OP know they are illegal? Oh I get it, its because they speak Spanish.

Parks are dirty because of the fault of illegal immigrants. Again, how do they know the legal status of the litterer? Oh... right, the corona bottles. According to wikipedia, corona the best selling non-domestic beer in the US.

Another is, "They can afford it because their living expenses are minimal...afterall its in their culture to live multiple families to a home." Rarely have I see this and other posters have demonstrated with numbers that it is not the norm. People exagerate with their numbers. Its not the norm and its not part of their culture either.

Or that if one illegal immigrant rapes or kills, that it must be in their nature as an illegal immigrant to do such things when stats prove that crime rates are higher among American citizens than by immigrants irrespective of their legal status.

Oh and my favorite: "Illegal immigrants have taken over America, we need to take back our country..Wake up America". With an illegal immigrant population of 3-4%, I wonder what the plan is? It would be too difficult to do, IMO but it sounds ALARMING and PARANOID to say the least. As my mother would say, "You are drowning in a glass of water."

Or...I'm not racist, its a matter of legality but those Mexicans or those Hispanics or those that speak Spanish, ...but I'm not racist. And the others such as invaders, 3rd worlders, etc.

If people would get rid of those stereotypes they hold of ethnic groups, it would be much easier to debate this issue. As I have said before, I understand we have an issue that cannot be ignored and must be solved. How ever we decide to do this...it would be wise if people would clear their heads of such nuisance of stereotyping others.
