This isn't Star Trek or Star Wars.......we are not yet (and hope never to be) some huge galactic one world government. And shudder to think of that day as reality. Please, whatever god is out there, let me be long gone. If the Giant Tit WAS opened up "freely", think of the hordes of 3rd worlders beating down the door to the "goodies". They would be used up in no time, this country dried up, and the planet plunged into darkness. Can we say Return of the Dark Ages??

No, the world will not ever be "ready" for a free flow of people -

Nor, should they

I want a free flow of Aliens to come bless us with their technological advancements. Not Illegal Aliens, the illegal aliens in Spaceships.

You must not be a "Twilight Zone" fan. Aliens once came "To Serve Man"..sounds like a great idea---and it was, for a short time---until people realized that the aliens intended to "serve Man", all right---and to serve him as a main course, either "well done, or medium rare".

Too late....so be very careful that you know your aliens before giving them your complete trust.

They can probably read your mind, so they would know if you thought that they were screwing you over. Hah.

In all seriousness, the world will never be able to accomodate the "free flow of people", as long as we have human evils and wrong doing, and strife---which means that "as long as we have people".

The present-day pattern may change--for example, Europe is doing much now to open its internal borders among the different EU members. But this only works because the EU contains no poor, third-world nations, and no nations seriously "at odds" with European culture---(this is a big reason they may never admit Turkey--even though part of it is in Europe).

My point is that borders may come and go---or move---but there will always be certain barriers to movement. There will be people who desire to keep other people "out", in order to protect what is "theirs". These barriers may be economic (private, gated communities, or even whole private "areas")---or they may be social (Beverly Hills vs "The Hood")----or they may be legal (for instance, the Nevada Test Site---no public entry allowed)---but there will ALWAYS be restrictions on human movement, as long as there is mistrust between humans.

But then, why certain individuals, such as politicians, ambassadors, scientists, athletes and artists have the right to immigrate freely, why do countries choose to ignore the rules for this kind of people? what makes them so special? I can understand that ambassadors are needed so are scientists whose skills are welcomed everywhere, but why artists and athletes?

most of these people can live and work everywhere they wish and they can choose the countries who pay the most competitive wages, the intergalactic network exists only for them???

Probably two reasons---(1) Artists and athletes don't seem to pose a serious threat to the "establishment" in any country---(as long as the artists don't violate censorship)....these are looked at as "silly" professions, as oppsed to scientists and businessmen...

and (2) a lot of artists and athletes have a HUGE amount of money---and this will help "change people's minds" in many cases.

Almost any "famous" person, of course, could immigrate anywhere freely, because their arrival anywhere would help "validate" the host country. For example. George Bush would be welcome in Cuba, North Korea, or even in Iran, because by going there, the "locals" would be able to show the world that they were a serious country. They'd look good by letting him in---and they'd look bad by keeping him out.
