Catering to illegals is stooping down. Most Americans know & can speak English
Not judging by some of the posts I read on this forum, LOL.
And for the last time, it's not just "illegals" who struggle with English - and unless you can prove otherwise, I would appreciate if you stop spreading that lie.
Barely... do you know the difference between your/you're and their/there/they're? Basic elementary-level stuff, and you yourself didn't even get that right in every post.
“If you’re in your early 30s and you’re thinking you want to spend time in China, or grow a business there, or work for a multinational doing business there, you would be at a disadvantage if you did not have Chinese language ability,” says Kenneth G. Lieberthal, a professor of business administration at the University of Michigan.
CareerBuilder.com’s 2010 hiring forecast showed that 39 percent of U.S. employers said they plan to hire bilingual candidates in 2010, and half said that if they had two equally qualified candidates, they would be more inclined to hire the bilingual one.
Do you even read what you write? "If you're thinking of spending time in China or grow a business there or work there you would be at a disadvantage not to know Chinese". In otherwords if you move to China learn THEIR language!
Speaking other languages is a skill it has nothing to do with race. It is absurd to think only Hispanics speak Spanish...I live with a pasty-white red head that is fluent, there is nothing Hispanic about her.
Would you argue companies seeking skills with computer languages are also racist?
I suspect you weren't qualified for a job and instead of looking at your skill sets and improving you complain about "those" companies... This is known as an external locus of control. - You place your power outside. I suggest you learn Spanish or other skills that will get you the jobs you want.
It's not racist when the opportunity to learn the language is available to all. I am American and not Hispanic. I will likely be moving to a highly Spanish-speaking area in a few years. So guess who's learning Spanish? Either you truly want to be competitive or you don't.
When its catering to a group base on ethnicity it becomes discriminatory.
Like tourists from Spain? Legal immigrants consulting with their immigration attorney? Television stations broadcasting across the Mexican border? Representatives of companies from Latin America?
It's discriminatory to want an employee to be able to converse with them?
