Soon this will stretch to other family members illegally here.
I think this topic was already posted but I wasn't aware of the March commencement date. Obama isn't wasting any time giving illegal immigrants amnesty piece by piece, is he? First DACA, now this. As you said, the way the trend is going it will stretch to other family members next until all 12 million or so are allowed to remain here. Yet he has bypassed congress on all of this and we have 23 million Americans out of work. How can anyone be ok with this?

I think if people are OK with it, it's out of ethnocentrism or just plain ignorance.
I've managed to convert a lot of people who were sympathetic to illegals by pointing out the other side of the story. I myself used to be more sympathetic towards illegals and wondered what the big deal was...of course this was when I was living abroad as the illegal population in the US exploded...and then I went through the process of sponsoring my now-ex-husband for a green card as illegal immigrant "rights" protesters jammed streets in major American cities. That experience changed my mind.
I was like...wait...why should WE have to go through this arduous process and gather all these documents and pay this money and go through these invasive investigations (chest x-rays, hep/HIV screens, psychological and drug screens, background checks, etc) and travel on our own time and dime for an in-person interview and provide x number of years of past tax returns and mortgage statements and pay stubs etc etc etc so he can get a green card because he's legitimately married to an American citizen...and THESE people just jump a fence, no checks of any kind, and they expect the same??????
NO.
H-E-DOUBLE-HOCKEY-STICKS-NO.
Getting his green card took fourteen months and cost about $3k out of pocket...and that's WITHOUT using a lawyer.
If WE had to jump through those hoops, THEY have to.
When I put it like that I get a lot of nodding heads, furrowed brows, and "oh wow, I never thought of it that way...."

I am glad that your personal experience opened your eyes to how unfair illegal immigration is to legal immigrants who came the right way as your husband did. I try to get the word out also about their negative impact on our society but some people are such bleeding hearts or have an ethnocentric iinterest in this issue that there is no reaching them.

I know exactly what you mean. I can't count the number of hoops my ex had to jump through, not to mention, the thousands he paid in fees. And, unlike Dreamies, as a LEGAL foreign student, he didn't qualify for in-state tuition in any state in this country. Heck, he even had work restrictions. Fortunately, his parents could afford to support him.
Anyone with a belief in fairness cannot possibly support amnesty for illegal aliens. Sadly, many are in Obama worship mode. Whatever he supports, they support, with no regard for consequences. Unfortunately, by the time they get off their knees, it will be too late.

2006 was my wake up call with those illegal aliens DEMANDING the "right" to stay in the US.
