ObamaCare's Medicaid expansion and new subsidies to buy health insurance are among a number of factors that may raise a hurdle to immigration reform in 2013: the budgetary cost.

The 2007 bill would have made full Medicaid benefits available in five years, the usual waiting period for new legal permanent residents.

ObamaCare goes a few big steps further, expanding Medicaid eligibility to 133% of the poverty level and providing subsidized coverage to individuals earning up to 400% of poverty who lack affordable employer coverage.
ObamaCare: Immigration Reform's $10 Billion Annual Cost Hurdle - Investors.com

With the passage of CIR, illegal aliens will be summarily legalized, which will also make them eligible for coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Given that most are unskilled low-wage earners, and thus unable to afford health insurance, they will qualify for Medicaid or subsidized coverage. Naturally, this will add billions to our annual costs.

I don't think most amnesty supporters have considered all of the ramifications. But, I hope they're prepared to dig deep into their pockets for all of the additions costs. This is only one of many.

this is indeed only one of many, but it's a biggie.
having to sponsor health care for illegals was a large part of the reason so many republicans were vehemently against gwb's immigration 'reform'.

Indeed it is a biggie. And, once their families join them, it will be enough to bankrupt this country. Apparently, the lure of the coveted Hispanic vote was just too much for those traitorous politicians to resist. They're too stupid and blinded by greed to realize they will never get those votes.

Good luck getting Diane Sawyer, Scott Pelley or Brian Williams to say a word about this devastating situation on their nightly newscasts, since the liberal press is so far in bed with this President it's sickening.

Whomever estimated a $10 billion cost to provide healthcare insurance to 11 million, almost entirely poverty-level, legalized illegal immigrants, needs to retake basic math, that is if they ever took it in the first place.

Currently, depending on whose numbers you accept, there are 60 million Americans on Medicaid, and depending on whose numbers you accept, at a cost for FY2012 of $250 billion (CBO).

I always take illegal immigration "data" with a grain of salt. You can bet, the amount is at least 10 times greater.

There are over a dozen different taxes embedded throughout ObamaCare that the liberal press hasn't even found yet, primarily because most of them don't read the WSJ or IBD (Investors Business Daily), and their standout editorial pages with viewpoints offered by economists as opposed to clueless politicians, and usually brain-dead Democrats such as Reid & Schumer.

Like we don't pay for illegal immigrants care now?

So tired of these uniformed threads. Illegals if they don't pay for their minor care out of their own pocket, they are treated at county hospitals. Those costs are passed on to everyone in the form of taxes that we pay now, and higher insurance premiums. So in the big picture, having them fall under a gvt health plan is not a big deal.

We pay for them now but don't forget the family reunification that will follow -- all the children they will bring over that had been left behind, and elderly parents and grandparents who will soon be joining their loved ones here.

Plus all the new illegals that will be arriving to do those low wage hard work jobs that newly amnestied illegals will believe they are too good to do, plus who is going to pay their illegal nanny $8.00 an hour plus overtime after she is amnestied? She will qualify for free housing and food stamps once she's made legal, and her replacement will be arriving over the border in time to take the job she no longer wants and can the employers of illegals continue to pay less than legal wages even if she wanted to continue working?
