Do you think building a fence on the Mexico border is a good idea? will it reduce illegal immigrants? How will this affect the US? Will it help control the US population? Share and discuss your thoughts on the issue.

Boy this question sounds like bait, but I'll bite.

Yes, build a fence, wall, moat. Anything to help keep illegals on the legal side.

The fence is only going to be 700 miles long and cost billions of dollars, the border is about 2000 miles, what kind of politics is this, doesn't any one realize how long the border is or is this another appeasment by both parties, knowing that most Americans can't name a Supreme court judge so how are they to know how long the border is. Just a band aid again, we will probably use illegals to build it.

it is better than doing nothing, which is what people have been doing so far., I agree with the above, fence moat, tar and feather, razor wire, as long as it isnt chain link, might as well.

It matters not to me, Alexander59, who builds the fence. Rest assured that politicians on the American side will never do it. One side welcomes the cheap labor, and the other side welcomes the voters who further the cause of socialism.
I fully contend that a handful of illegals being shot as they cross into the US would prove to be quite a deterrent to such criminal behavior.

illegal immigrants are causing crime and taking jobs from American citizens. Also, many of them abuse healthcare services and other services, thus increasing the taxpayers' burden. Illegal immigrants are criminals by definition, and should be addressed as such.

My point was how a 700 mile fence is going to help, they just won't try to cross there. They may be illegals but they are not stupid. This should be the begining of a fence all the way around.

“Do you think building a fence on the Mexico border is a good idea?”

Absolutely! It should be the whole 2000 miles, double fenced with a road down the center, cameras, (could be hooked up all along the border and have “public watchers” via the Internet to help out) sensors, and guards. The top should have razor wire extending from the top out the fence out 3’ and tipped over the Mexico side at a 45 degree angle.

“One side welcomes the cheap labor, and the other side welcomes the voters who further the cause of socialism.”

That is absolutely true.

“Illegal immigrants are criminals by definition, and should be addressed as such.”

That is true as well. Something is seriously wrong. I know Hispanic people that their parents came here in the 30’s and 40’s and they and their children don’t want the illegals here.

Now, that says something when your own race does not want you here. Why, because many of the old folks came here legally and did it by the law so they don’t have much respect for the illegals.

“…they will have to walk 700 miles to get around.”

Will this be 700 miles on continuous, or 700 miles broken up across the most use passway? To me, this is a waste. Congress should go back and spend the money on a real fence (as described above) the whole 2000 miles.

Well hopefully continuous but probably not, I would love the fence above but what are the odds of that happening?
