No, I would like to know why, in an American school that is funded by the tax dollars of US citizens, anyone is pledging allegiance to the flag of Mexico.
IMO, this is not acceptable and goes well beyond any cultural enrichment.

No American should ever pledge allegience to any other flag. Learning about other countries and their customs is acceptable, pledging allegience to another flag is not.

Default This again?

I was 'forced' to learn and sing the French National Anthem in French class in the 12th grade... who cares?!?! Take it as a lesson learnt, one more thing that you know...knowledge is like an arsenal...it's always good to learn more, know more...

For all the people who expend so much energy and hatred on this immigration issue...I am sure that your energies could be put to better use...

good post

Hatred is a powerful energy indeed it can consume your soul and it has a magnetic property too, so the more you hate the more you end up attracting what you hate the most.

beware with hate because you might end up being what you hated the most in another life

Considering that you cant force american children to pledge to the American flag, I cant see them being "FORCED" to pledge to the Mexican flag.

Furthermore, there really is no sign that this was in America.

Oh, it is happening all over this country. A family told me that Las Cruces schools are making all school kids say the Pledge in Spanish.

Here is a sign that it was in America:

Quote:
FREEPORT — Velasco Elementary School’s principal said he has been taken aback by a controversy that has arisen from his campus’ Mexican Independence Day celebration, and he apologizes for offending parents.

During a short school assembly Friday, several parent volunteers read a pledge of allegiance to the Mexican flag. Since a parent complained on the Chris Baker show on NewsRadio 740 KTRH that afternoon, the issue has become a focal point of some Houston talk radio shows.

“It’s been overwhelming,” said longtime Principal Sam Williams. “It’s been a real trying ordeal and all I can say is I deeply apologize if anyone was offended by it — and I can see that they are.”

In hindsight, he said, the program should have been presented differently.

“If I had it to do all over again, we would revamp it,” Williams said. “There’s no way that we would repeat it.”

Velasco Elementary has 635 students in prekindergarten through fourth grade, 65 percent of whom are Hispanic. Williams, who is black, has served as principal of the school for 18 years.
