I may be wrong but I don't think felons are allowed to join our military. So.....
The topic is created in the scenario that the subject is otherwise qualified (including physically) to serve. Clearly this occurrence (of a servicemember formerly being an illegal alien) has happened before. Are you attributing that all illegal aliens are convicted felons?

No, they haven't all been "convicted" but many of them are felons anyway. Not exactly desirable material for service in our military.
How are you defining an unknown subject as a "felon", if they have not been convicted of a felony?...
If someone has used a fake or stolen ID to work in theory without a conviction they are a felon. If someone has raped, murdered or is a thief does that make them less so just because they haven't been caught yet?

I'm gonna say all illegal aliens or maybe 99 out of 100 DO commit felonies while living in the US; just they haven't been caught yet.
Didn't I give you a prime example under this topic as in felony ID theft or using fake documents? How about working under the table and not paying taxes? How are illegal immigrants able to work without doing at least one of these things?
