Do we have a criminal code and a civil code?

Is illegal entry a criminal or civil violation?

We have before us a perfect storm. The builders, growers, restaurant and grocery store owners want cheap labor. The bleeding hearts want to save the world.

Anybody who ever ate food picked or processed by undocumented is guilty. Anybody whoever bought a house built by undocumented is guilty. Who roofed your house, works in your yard, cleans and packs chicken or catfish you consume at home or in a restaurant, mows your grass, etc.? The employers want cheap labor, consumers want cheap goods.

Trouble is, when those guys came we expected them to remain single and celibate. That was unreasonable. Sending them home would cost billions. The social services they require cost us billions.

We all created this problem. We can't save the world's needy or employ all of them either.

Looks like we're going to go broke trying though.

Nobody cares when it's not their hood, or school, or road. You will certainly give a #@!$ when your hood or school gets invaded.

Chicago should spread the illegals around in Govt housing so everyone can feel the pain.

How the hell would anyone know if an illegal immigrant picked the tomato he ate or help build the house he bought? There are legal immigrants and citizens who do those jobs also. So no, regular Americans who do not hire illegal immigrants are not guilty of anything. No, allowing them to remain here would be a lot more costly than deporting them.

We do.

Illegal entry (EWI) is a criminal offense, Federal Misdemeanor punishable by fine and up to 6 months in jail, overstaying a visa is an administrative offense punishable with deportation, no fine, no jail time.

The old "guilt-by-association" argument. .......and you lost me.

So lets make it hard for them to remain here or to come to begin with.

I'm just saying that this problem just did not pounce on us overnight. It has been going on for as long as I can remember. Like Tom Leher said, even Pharaoh had Hebrew braceros.

We have been willfully ignorant. The border states have the largest hit to their social service and education cost. One could argue that they also get the biggest benefit.

This one side blaming the other side is just another ploy. They were all in on it. The title of this thread suggest that the POTUS is doing something unseemly. My awkwardly worded comment meant to suggest that we should not be laying this problem off on one person or party. We were all complacent while the numbers compounded.

On the Numbers USA site, founder Roy Beck has a presentation on the immigration policy and population. It is staggering.

They are here. Sending them home is a major and costly undertaking. We need to figure out a way where folks can bloom where they are planted.

Reforming the Mexican government and the church that teaches birth control is a sin appears to me to be as big a chore as achieving peace between Palestine and Israel.

Some may have been willfully ignorant, many weren't. What benefit do border states get from illegal immigrants? The POTUS is doing something unprecedented, he is allowing an illegal immigrant to sit in a "Seat of Honor" for the State of the Union address. We are not laying this off on one party or the other, we are blaming the Executive Offices for their complacency. No, we are not all complacent in this. Folks can be replanted and bloom just fine, some of these folks do not do well in the new soil and their blooming has given way to being a weed, Dandelions come to mind.

Doesn't mean he's a criminal. Prove that he is one. Cite your sources.
