No, they are not. They must also file a petition for work authorization and pay fees, it's not automatic. IBM tells you the form that needs to be filed.

Never said it was automatic. In the case of an asylum seeker for example, the attorney will file the petition for the work permit , and if he is any kind of an attorney will get it. At least out here in the east.

The way you worded your comment implied that it was automatic. Asylum seeker? They must first be granted asylum before they can apply for work authorization. East coast, west coast, doesn't matter, same DHS.

Simply better word your comments, it will erase the confusion.
