The article was unclear on that matter but if so, I agree to ask the same question with you on that point.

Unlike some posters, I don't view the media as manipulative or part of a grand conspiracy. However, I think that they are often very lazy and sloppy, and incaccurately give impressions due to incomplete reporting.

I've run into that a few times with stories with which I was very familiar.
I don't know, this sounds pretty accurate to me.

Criminals use fires to their advantage

However, six people were caught stealing relief supplies yesterday from Qualcomm Stadium. An evacuee reported seeing them load two pickups and a car with cots and other items, leave and then return.

One in the group said they were being paid to take items of value, police Sgt. Jesse Ceseña said. The six, suspected of being illegal immigrants, were turned over to U.S. Border Patrol agents who were at the stadium to assist with relief efforts.

Wildfires spread but 'we've turned the corner

Six illegal immigrants who were suspected of stealing relief supplies from Qualcomm were arrested by Border Patrol agents.

A woman told San Diego Police she saw the group load up two pickup trucks and a car with cots and other supplies, leave and then return, said police Sgt. Jesse Cesena.

When officers stopped them, a member of the group said they were being paid to take things of value from the stadium.

“They were stealing a lot of stuff,” Cesena said. “We took the stuff back and we escorted them out. They were stealing from the people in need.”

Because some members of the group spoke Spanish, officers called Border Patrol agents who were at the stadium for relief efforts. They determined the people were in the country illegally and arrested them.

Six illegal immigrants arrested at Qualcomm

San Diego:

Six undocumented Mexican immigrants were arrested today by U.S. Border Patrol agents at Qualcomm Stadium, after a report that they were stealing food and water meant for evacuees, according to spokesman Damon Foreman.

San Diego police responded to a call about alleged theft from the evacuation center and encountered six people in a van who didn't speak English and didn't have California driver's licenses, Foreman said. The police officers called the Border Patrol, who arrived at the stadium and made the arrests, he said. Foreman said the immigrants admitted they were Mexican citizens and that they were stealing.

Border Patrol agents are not looking for illegal immigrants at the center but will continue responding to police calls for assistance.

First off, they were here illegally. Strike one. Secondly, they were stealing. Strike two. Lastly, those supplies were intended for legal, tax-paying citizens who just lost all they had worked for. Strike 3.

Those thieves should be thrown in jail and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
