when did people start encouraging breaking the law. there are still laws in this country and breaking the law has consequences, otherwise we would have anarchy.

A stint in jail as a guest of the State often serves as an effective deterrent against future crimes.

It may also scare some illegals from trying to get across the border because they will face prison time if caught.

Is this worth the time, effort and cost. Would you want your taxes to pay for all the prison beds that will be required as this program moves into New Mexico and Arizona.
I can understand why this might be the next step to take in the fight against illeagal immigration, but I am just not sure if it will help. I agree with u this solution will be expensive to implement. I have reservation about this because I just don't know if it will be effective. I think there are other measure that will discourage illegal immigration. For instance, take away the reward of automatic citizenship for the children of illegal aliens born in the USA. If a person commits a crime against the state, the state does not reward their illegal fruits. I think this would deter some illegal immigration. Also, this will be less expensive to implement. This is a complicated issue and to resolve it will require more than just a "lock'em up" solution.

It won't work. The ordeal that most of these people go through to get here makes any jail look like a cakewalk.

I'm not in favor of our government allowing them to stay, but spending money on jail time would likely be a waste.

If you really want to stop the influx of illegals they must be denied the free services they are overburdening, severely fine the companies that continue to employ them, and inform Mexico that for every illegal found in our country the U.S. will charge them $10,000.00. If Mexico doesn't help stop the problem or pay their bill, cut trade with their country and disallow any U.S. company from doing business there.

Let Mexico build their own damn fence and man it.

I think if we put them in jail, make them pay a fine then deport them maybe it would slow them down.
Take the women if there caught take the kids, turn them over to DHS(this is what we do to our own female when they break the law)put her in jail tell that she may not get her child back, make her post bail and go to court to have her child returned to her and then deport her butt, I bet she will rethink coming to this country again and breaking our laws.(we would be treating her the same way we treat our own female lawbreakers with kids)

The only way you can make them go back is with a AK47 in your hand and god bless you.

Or; cut off their source of income as in Employer Sanctions Laws everywhere-------here in Arizona the illegal immigrants are showing all the signs of clearing out.

I live on the edge of a (probable) illegal immigrant enclave and I swear; there are maybe 1/2 the number of cars/trucks parked at the apartments compared to even 3 months ago.

To be honest: if there were maybe 1-2 million illegals vs. the estimated present 12-20 million------most Americans would likely ignore them. Assuming of course the illegals were otherwise law abiding.
