Then why are the schools along the border in such bad shape? Very very low SAT scores among the Spanish speaking and ESL's would indicate it's not so wonderful for the brain.

I think youre justifying your inability to speak multiple languages.
I am sure that learning other things besides a foreign language makes the brain grow also. If I learn something that I will use on a daily basis opposed to a foreign language that I would not use much my brain would continue to grow while with the language if you don't use it you lose it. Nice try though.
Scientists have come up with yet more evidence to suggest that keeping the brain active can ward off senile dementia.
Researchers in the United States have found that dancing, playing musical instruments, reading and playing board games can all reduce the risks of developing the condition.
The findings back up previous studies which have suggested that doing crosswords or learning a new language have a similar protective effect. BBC NEWS | Health | Dancing 'wards off dementia'
Good, then we have choices to keep our brain active. Why does it have to be learning another language? I do most of the above so I am set to go.
The premise that U.S. citizens or legal immigrants must know English is false. It doesn't matter if we have one particular language or another as primary. There is no requirement for a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident to know English to remain in that status.
I never said that legal immigrants have to know English by law. It is however necessary if one is to become a naturalized citizen. The only exception would be the elderly. Why wouldn't every citizen, immigrant want to learn our national language? It is hard to function in our society without knowing it unless one is for retaining separate societies in our country. If one doesn't want to assimilate into our society then perhaps they should move to another country.
Learning a second language is anti-American and anti-freedom.
No it isn't but when certain people in here condemn Americans for not desiring to learn another language they are in essence denying them their freedoms not to.
And yet we have "malamute" calling an old woman "too stupid or senile" for not learning another language after age 79:
That was the point being made about not allowing her to migrate here because of her age. The brain isn't capable of learning another language at that age and as her age advances she would only be a burden to the taxpayer while contributing nothing. In the future if you have a problem with a poster why not take it up with them rather than me?
