Homeland Security has taken on a life of it's own and seems to avoid performing duties that are reason for departments creation.

I wonder why the double layed fence/wall never got built in the first place since it was already approved by congress but never funded? Cruz is proposing the same thing in this article but it probably won't even get approved this time around because it will be the same old excuse that we don't have the funds for it. Why doesn't congress weigh the costs of illegal immigration and possible terrorists entering our country vs building it? If they actually did or cared they would have finished that wall by now but I guess votes, power and money trumps everything else. Sad that we have reached this level of corruption in our government.

If the illegal immigration brings Democrats votes, who cares about cost or terrorism?

Also both the Democrats and Republicans who hire illegal immigrants are guilty of putting profit above the well being of our own citizens.

That 2000 mile mostly unfenced border that the government claims it cannot possibly control because it's 2000 miles long and mostly unfenced is still 2000 miles long and mostly unfenced. No -- there is no border security whatsoever.

Most of the tons of meth and heroin and pot being consumed every day come right on over that not-so-secure border.

There is a very thriving business of fraudulent border crossing cards and other identification documents, most illegals come through legal ports of entry and nothing at all is being done about the visa overstays. For a mere $149, a perfectly legal border crossing card can be obtained and if they choose to abide by it's terms, they do, if they choose not to abide by it's terms, nothing is done about it.
