Oh, bull. Scholarships, grants, the GI Bill and state colleges have existed for a long time.

The bosses are white? By that I'm assuming you mean American. My point wasn't about race, it was about illegals. Next time you're on break from high school why don't you take a field trip out to the central valley and tell me who you see out in the new home construction. And what is this "Back then"? I'm talking within the last 5 years. And YOU may have no problem if Americans took jobs in Mexico, just as I'm sure Mexicans citizens have no problem with what's going on in the US, but MEXICAN CITIZENS would have a problem with it, and have every right to, just as I have every right to be upset at what's actually happening here. That was the point of my analogy, along with the point that it would never happen due to Mexico's immigration laws, and the US should be the same way with OUR immigration laws.

White American, you know what I mean. My dad is American as well-- he was not born in America but he's a citizen. When I take a field trip to see who's building houses or picking fruit I see teams of Mexicans. I see the White American supervisors telling them what to do. I've been seeing this for a long long time. Might of not been so true 10 years ago but I'm pretty sure it has happened for more than 5 years.

I can't give you an exact date, but it doesn't change the fact that Amercians did these jobs, and now illegals do. It's been recently (within the last few years) that it's almost impossible to be American and get one of these jobs, unless you want to work for half what you made before. There are only a few supervisors/foremans on any given job site compared to the amount of laborers, so those Americans who did not get a higher up job are SOL, and that's not right. They should not be forced to find other work because of those here illegally. The area I live in has a large hispanic population, and those legal hispanics, AKA Americans, are just as upset at what's happening. And why does it keep going on? GREED. Pay the illegals crap=lots of money to an illegal=greater profit. Companies who hire illegals should be deported as well.

I think illegals have kept my dad from doing jobs in the past. Yet he is still sympathetic towards them because he knows what its like-- not because he was illegal (because he has never been) but because he's here for the same reason.

It's not that many on here against illegal immigration are not sympathetic, we know it's better here. The reason Americans are so proud is we think of our country as the greatest country on Earth, and many people from other countries feel the same, they want to come to the land of oppurtunity. The problem is, everyone on the planet cannot live here. The line has to be drawn somewhere. Without controlled growth this country will implode. There is a reason for the immigration process, and most of us here just want people to follow it. I have no problem with immigrants coming here legally, I will welcome them with open arms, and it is to these people that those of whom skipping the process are cheating. Fair is fair.

For the record: when your dad was born.......under US law at the time he would have been counted as 'White'.

This 'Hispanic' bit did not come about till the 1970's when a bunch of Spanish named Mestizo activists wanted a different label yet due to White Supremacy in Hispanic culture did not wish to be lumped in with American Indians.

Amen to that. My mother's parents were in no way rich, but they managed to scrape together the money to send my mom to college. My uncle went on the GI Bill.
