Interesting news report today on how Israel wants to handle the matter of tens of thosands of illegal immigrants:

Quote:
JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel has reached an agreement to send
thousands of African migrants to an unidentified
country, according to a court document obtained Monday, a plan that has elicited
criticism over its potential harm to the migrants.

The plan, if implemented, is an attempt to address one of Israel's more
pressing issues: what to do with an influx of roughly 60,000 African migrants
who have sneaked into Israel from Egypt over the past eight years.
Quote:
Over the past year, Israel has taken a series of steps to halt
the influx. It built a fence along the border with Egypt that has reduced the
number of new arrivals from hundreds each month to just a trickle. Since last
summer, it has imprisoned new arrivals while officials determine whether they
meet the criteria for refugee status. Last year, Israel offered some migrants
cash to leave voluntarily, warning they would be expelled otherwise.
And this is a quote which calls to question whether or not many of the illegals (from Mexico) and others who are illegals in the United States, because they've overstayed their original permissions, may claim refugee status due to fears of victimization due to war, etc.:

Quote:
Under the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees,
states are obligated not to send refugees to countries where they would face
physical or political danger.
The actions by Israel will probably be watched closely by persons with differing views on illegal immigrants here in the USA ... as a possible indication of lessons learned.

Sounds like Israel takes illegal immigration very seriously including building a fence that cut back illegal immigration to a trickle....hint, hint. Too bad we don't take a lesson from them.

If only we were lucky enough to only have 60,000 illegal immigrants here.

Since when is Mexico a war torn country? The only place it is unsafe would be near the border where the drug cartels operate. The rest of Mexico is relatively safe.

I'm not surprised you aren't better informed on the issue.

Oh, well please inform me and on how what I said is untrue. If it were worse than what I said Mexicans would be claiming refugee status but they are not. Why is that?

Try this, for starters:

This also proves that there is nothing wrong with enforcing laws & deporting people that don't belong.

Yet many pro illegals here say we can't deport them.

Actually, what they are saying is that we "shouldn't" deport them. I'd like to know why. Isn't that what our immigration laws dictate?

The reason America will never have a militarized border is because our national defense obligations are in the Middle East to protect Israel's interests, which is a close ally of ours, and in Asia to protect our allies South Korea and Japan from the threat of red communist China.

There is no need to militarize our borders. Give the National Guard the right guard our borders. If we built that double layered fence as promised and removed the incentives for illegals to remain here or to continue to come here many if not most would self-deport. The only thing that the latter doesn't stop are criminals and terrorists and that's what we need the fence and the National Guard for.
