Exactly. The 1986 amnesty was a catastrophic failure whose consequences we are now attempting to mitigate by...another amnesty? Definition of insanity, anyone?

Because the Democrats want to lock in the Hispanic vote for another generation (at least), and the Republicans want to win them over so they won't start getting shellacked by Democrats as the Hispanic population increases.

And both sides want to please their corporate overlords. Surely someone stands to gain from this. Not you and me, but someone.

True. It will only show all that we have no respect for law abiding types but very generously reward all lawbreakers. Come here illegally -- all kinds of government handouts and rewards of citizenship for you. Obey the laws and you're out.
