Well I guess the question is how is that so? These folks are already here so why isn't the economy roaring with all their help? Making them eligible for welfare is good for the economy? Oh wait that's right wasn't Peelosi saying that food stamps and unemployment benefits boost the economy a while back?

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) touted the Congressional Budget Office report that the immigration reform bill would reduce the deficit, saying it “boost our national economy and increases our security.”
“This bill certainly is good for the economy,” Reid said on the Senate floor Wednesday. “It’s going over the next two decades to reduce the deficit in America by almost $1 trillion.”

CBO the bill will only prevent 25% of VISA overstays. Visa overstays acct for an estimated 40% of all illegals. In Short this bill will do very little.
Of course projected numbers are just that a guess.

And Obamacare won't add a single penny to our deficits. Of course that's a ****ing lie.

Raise your hand if you think the CBO is among government's most worthless organizations??

Once they become legal are their employers going to start paying the additional taxes (FICA, UE, etc) or lay them off and find the next batch of illegals ?

I feel anyone who feels that illegals will be good for our economy, is a Fudgin Moron! Get rid of them if they are not legal, this is good for the economy too?

We really have a bunch of morons in this administration, past ones too, but this one takes the cake.

So far no poster has even attempted to refute the actual report. I just see people spewing the same old tired Fox News nativist talking points. This reminds me of the conservatives that "unskewed" the polls to convince themselves that Romney was going to win in a landslide.

Bill could reduce illegal immigration 25 percent
The CBO claims the bill will save us billions.
The CBO also claims that it will only stop about 25% of illegal immigration.
So if we passed a real bill aimed at stopping illegal immigration instead of rewarding illegal immigration what would our savings be?
If by reducing illegal immigration by 25% delivers up to a trillion dollars what would be saved if we stopped say 75%? 3 trillion?
The question begs how are illegals really costing this country?
I have yet to see any pro illegal explain how rewarding criminal behavior is healthy reform?
Normally I am not a kill the messenger type, but Reid? Reid's word is deeply questionable.

So you can't refute the CBO report and acknowledge that the Bill would be beneficial? Your argument is that a different Bill might be better, but you have absolutely nothing to base that on?

Crossing an imaginary line on a map to improve life for you and your family is not criminal behavior.

I refute that the bill is immigration reform. It is an amnesty bill with some trim. The CBO's own numbers bear out that it is a bill that does very little.
Criminal behavior. International law says otherwise. Do we have immigration laws? Did the illegals violate these laws? Do illegals also commit ID Theft? Fraud? Do they also commit Tax evasion and fraud? Do illegals also drive without a license? Without insurance?
These are crimes that get citizens locked up. So yes they are criminals.
Can you refute the fact that illegals will be rewarded for violating our laws if this bill is passed?
Can you refute that ID fraud is in fact a crime as is tax evasion and tax fraud?
Can you refute that we can pass a better bill that will do a better job? 1 that actually reforms a broken system rather than focus on rewarding illegals?
Why settle for a bad bill? This bill is like a car with 4 flats. we'll put 1 new tire on and call it fixed. That is not fixed. No where near fixed.
