So the House has the choice of passing the immigration bill.

If they pass it...
  • A good portion of the conservative base will be PO'ed at them and they will lose votes.
  • Dems will gain votes illegally by allowing the illegal aliens to vote.
  • It will be in a position of passivity.

If they reject the bill...
  • It will be in a position of strength.
  • Dems will look to politically punish the Republicans with mass protests, media stories, and other shenanigans for the 2014 mid-terms.
  • The conservative base will be satisfied (in this case) and will support them.

This is what I would do. I would try my best to organize a mass protest against amnesty. At some point, we have to fight fire with fire. Why not make the Dems and RINO Repubs feel some political pressure? Or use phone calls, real hand written letters - whatever it takes to put pressure on those legislators supporting amnesty. Call the media outlets also that promote this garbage.

Last time when Bush was pushing amnesty anti-amnesty Americans flooded congresses phone lines with protests. It did stop it in its tracks. However, this time around we've got more Republicans in favor of this so I agree a mass protest would be in order.

The House is pretty much set to pass it. The CBO report not only shows it is a financial asset, it also reduces illegal immigration by 50%. The House nut jobs are going to be able stop it.

The senate bill is a bad bill that rewards illegals for their crimes. It is top heavy with pork. Lacks accountability measures and allows the head of HLS to determine when laws will be enforced.
The CBO says? Based on what? Guesstimates? The CBO's accuracy is less than worthy of praise.

Where are you getting your info that the House is set to pass it? If anything is passed it won't be anything like the Senate bill. There is no financial asset to legalizing millions of poor, uneducated and unskilled illegals. They will depend on government subsidies to supplement their low incomes. What about the 23 million unemployed Americans how does this help them? Illegal immigration will just increase and was proven in 1986 because the border won't be secured again. House nut jobs? Is that what you call Americans for the rule of law and putting the interests of our own citizens first?

They will just let each other add their little pork projects to the bill and buy all the votes they need to get it passed.
The entire beltway is corrupt beyond any fixing now.

Also 11 to 30 million cheap foreign labor is added to the legal labor pools, many Americans will become permanently unemployed and more illegals will be brought in to do the hard work low wage kind of jobs that Americans and amnestied cannot do even if they wanted because the employer is a crook who wants to pay illegal wages.

Only an idiot would think that this bill would reduce illegal immigration.

All it actually does is excused illegal immigration and give political support (possibly) to those who proposed and voted for it.

You should really try and get some reliable sources (as in not your political masters) before you post this kind of tripe.

And as long as the big rewards for coming here to give birth like the free pass around the immigration laws, food stamps, free health care, as well as no enforcement of the visa overstays, it's going to be extremely easy for illegals to continue coming on in. The fence will do nothing about the many, even likely the majority who come in on visitor visas and then illegally take jobs.

The bill doesn't say that any illegals remaining here will be deported, so it leaves the problem of illegals.

The fact that they tell people that "only those illegals who committed no other crimes" but then intend to reward even those who committed felony document fraud, tax evasion, DWI's, shoplifting, identity theft shows what a joke all this is.

They will pass it. Here is why:

1. Neo cons and the business community are going to apply pressure on the House leadership to waive the "majority of the majority" rule and allow the bill to pass with all Democrats and maybe 25 Republican votes. They are already running radio ads on talk radio for it.
2. Conservatives have no where else to go. So they get mad and stomp their feet and yell. Who cares? Not the Republican leadership. Cons will always vote for the GOP no matter what. Hispanics on the other hand can go to the Democrats just like they did next door in California. Although they won't say it, the GOP knows demographics is destiny for them and they don't stand a snowball chance in Hell of coddling together 270 votes without significant Hispanic support in swing states. White men are the past, Hispanics are the future.
