News, U.S. fears more illegal crossings along northern border.
BLAINE, Wash. | Tucked in the countryside where paved roads give way to gravel is the Smuggler’s Inn, a bed-and-breakfast on the U.S.-Canadian border.
Rooms come equipped with night-vision binoculars so guests can track the almost nightly cat-and-mouse game between Border Patrol agents and people trying to sneak into the United States. In the last three years, 105 people have been arrested in the inn’s yard. Just mowing the lawn can trip hidden sensors, prompting a flyover by Border Patrol helicopters, said Bob Boule, the inn’s operator.

It reminds me of South Park where the U.S. had a war with Canada.
Canadians work here where I am, and we tease them that they aren't really foreigners. And, mark my words, no one cares for the most part, if Canadians come over the border!

Canadians aren't what they're worried about on the Northern border. As the article mentions vans full of illegal Afghan refugees. Canadians don't HAVE to immigrate here illegally. THEIR country is actually a decent place to live that would rather deal with its own poverty issues that make the solution "run to the border" like lazy Mexico.

Why call Mexico lazy? They're working their problems out slowly but surely.

I don't think Mexico is lazy. Historically corrupt in the government, yes, but not lazy. From statements the travelingfella has made it appears that they may be turning the corner. I hope that is true.

I'll believe it when I see it. If things were getting better down there, what's the deal with the flood of illegals still crossing the border?

I suppose that it will take time for an improved economy to filter down to those at the lowest socio-economic levels. I too will believe it when I see it, but we can always hope!

They're working their problems out slowly but surely. Things aren't done iimmediately, just look at us enforcing our borders .
