Blue collar Americans see wages affected more by automation and robotics. Business spends significant time doing their best to insure the highest-paying "rote" jobs are automated, leaving the lower pay grade stuff, as the automation does not "pay itself back" fast enough in those cases to be approved by the equity stakeholders.

All the MORE reason to slam the door shut on ILLEGAL aliens AND slow down the legal alien thing too.

All that might do is buy a small amount of time.

Plant tours at large corps can be downright scary today, if you wish to see employees. Now I'm on the mgmt side approving capital, but, honestly, we're getting to new turf, and the employment market scares me long-term far more than short term.

If you are American and can't find a job, you have issues. You can come up with all the excuses in the book.

And people on here are under this weird assumption that immigrant workers work for free or below minimum wage. Nope. They have standards too. Don't be fooled.

A lot of these jobs Americans are just to lazy too do. And if they do it, they want to make $40-50 grand a year, with the best benefit package working in a low skilled job at some meat packing factory or picking fruits and or washing dishes. Not gonna happen. Look at making a career move.

Come on and visit any P&G plant in America. You won't find any illegals. Odd but our starting wage in my mill is $17.50 an hour. Next increase takes you to $21.00 an hour. The average is $25.00 an hour. We are heavy into automation and yet our work force is comparable to what it was 20 years ago. We simply added more converting lines. No factory requires illegals and never did. You sound like you are trying to justify hiring illegals.

You people are blaming the WRONG people for losing your "good factory jobs". Blame corporate America! They're the ones shipping your jobs overseas!!!!

Blame Republicans....they ALLOW THEM TO!
Blame the right for dismantling Unions!!!

Always looking for the scapegoats which are people that seem easy targets to you.

NAFTA- Bill Clinton
Most favored Nation for China- George Bush sr, Bill Clinton, GWB, Obama. Looks like an even split to me.
Who writes the laws? Congress. Obama had the super majority why didn't he change it? Because he didn't care. Just like he doesn't now. Suddenly he wants 3.8 billion for illegals. Why didn't he want 3.8 billion for American homeless and children? Because he didn't care.
Democrat or GOP same animal different rhetoric. They thrive because hard liners refuse to hold their own accountable.
Reread your post. Are you holding your own accountable?
Does the immigration reform bill go after those evil corporations first? Nope 5 year delay on mandatory E-Verify and only for future employees..... And that was battle to be added.
Shipping jobs over seas. Why? Why would any company spend billions to move? Millions to retrain employees? Same reason companies will leave 1 state for another. Business friendly laws. Who made it profitable for them to do so? Who wrote the laws? It didn't only happen under GWB.

This is all nonsense.

What a despicable thing to say about Americans who have been displaced in the work force by illegals. So many honest contractors in the construction businesses have lost their livelihood because they couldn't compete with sleazy contractors who hired illegals and paid under the table. So...I guess you're saying that it's their fault for being out of work because they are honest people who don't cheat the system? Well...it doesn't surprise me. After all, you bend over backwards to defend illegal aliens

I never saw anyone say that illegals work for free. However, when they are paid under the table, they don't pay taxes yet think nothing of using things like schools or ERs without paying their fair share.

You apparently don't know this but before this country was infested with illegals, Americans worked those meatpacking plants---and those jobs once paid enough to propel their employees into the lower middle class. Then illegals showed up and depressed the wages, the benefits and the working conditions.

Still...back when ICE was allowed to do raids, Americans would line up that very same day for those jobs in the factories and meatpacking plants. Companies also paid them more because they knew that if they didn't pay well, their workers could go work elsewhere.

Even IF what you say is totally right: there's still NO reason to allow ILLEGAL aliens to be in the US. Their kind DO push down wages for those unskilled and even skilled jobs still left. Sheesh!

Never would consider hiring illegals, and we verify everyone. But automation is going to have a far harsher effect than immigration ever did.
