STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — Immigrants Pedro and Salvacion Servano have been model U.S. residents since arriving from the Philippines in the 1980s.
Pedro Servano, 54, is a prominent family doctor in an underserved area of central Pennsylvania. His 51-year-old wife runs a grocery store and bakery.
But a change in their marital status during their visa application process more than two decades ago has come back to haunt them, and now they are facing possible deportation back to the Philippines.

This is an over stated issue and as long as they were here legally to begin with can be resolved without being deported.
This said are they here illegally? As a doctor he is an educated man, he has resourses ie access to a lawyer. Why did he wait to clarify his legal status? In short they own their immigration woes.

Due to the irregularity on their visa applications they were never here legally.

Lots of sad stories out there, John
However, the rules are the rules. It is obvious these people are well educated and should have known better. I have a feeling there may be more to this story than what is being reported.

20 years? Don't we have more important problems with Immigration to deal with than deport people who have been here for 20 years and are successful members of their community?
This type of article was developed by people who want liberal open borders and immigration programs in America. It attempts to discredit our immigration system by bringing in an extreme example so the public will assume all immigration decisions are as absurd. In a sense it is just public relations for a completely open immigration system.
It is unfortunate that they chose not to make certain that they were legal residents snce they are educated people. With all the money they earn they should be able to hire great lawyers. I dpn't have much sympathy for illegal aliens no matter their educational background

as opposed to posting articles with individual acts of crime committed by illegal immigrants?
I feel sad for these couple who knowingly commited visa fraud and even build their family around it. Poor innocent kids who were dragged to this mess, this is another blow to some Filipinos with similar American dream. On the other hand this gives us more faith in the American system that nobody is above the law, let this be an example to those who want to jump the line.
