I live in Arizona, and I have driven around, next to, and even over the border. I have never had an issue with border patrol. They are friendly and helpful and have always appeared to me to be doing nothing but their jobs.
Agreed and they've NEVER hassled me and I've been near Tombstone and Yuma with the BP checkpoints.
Sounds like people on both sides, need to read the constitution, and Bill of Rights.
Keep both documents in the car, and read them aloud, when held without charges...illegal, and a search is done without consent, also illegal.
However, knowing the mentality of the border patrol gang, they are so impressed with their shiny badges, they don't know the laws, and make your life miserable when you try to defend yourself....this is a police state. Don't kid yourself. Live anywhere....we are so close to totalitarianism, I wonder what country this really is....

I disagree and I don't know how anyone can stereotype our entire border patrol in this manner. I have faith that most in LE whether it be the border patrol or other law enforcement personnel are honest and follow the rules.
If we didn't have terrorists and million of illegals many of whom are criminals trying to get into our country there would be no need for such intense security at our borders. I don't feel it is a police state to under lawful contact ask people for their ID's. Those who don't cooperate should expect to suffer the consequences. Sure mistakes can be made but we should look at the overall great and difficult job that they do to protect our citizens from harm and thank them rather than admonishing them for doing their jobs.
They have border control vehicles all over the place where I live. I never see them doing much besides driving around though.
