With just eleven days remaining in the House legislative calendar this year, the window for any meaningful additional congressional action has been slammed shut. While the congressional calendar obviously will spill into the following year of a two-year session, partisan lines will harden even more the closer we get to the 2014 mid-term election.

The problem is the Dems want to tie the problem of illegals in with the problems of our immigration system.
Our system does have problems, but the fact remains that most illegals most likely would have been denied a VISA because they simply can't show that they are able to meet our minimum criteria.
The way to fix the illegal immigration problem is to make E-Verify mandator and expand it to land lords. I would also pass a law in regard to money transfers. Unless you have a green card, a valid VISA number or can show proof of US residency or citizenship money transfers should be illegal.
I would also seize all assets of the illegal when caught. Use this to offset the cost of deportation. Remove the reward for being here and they will self deport. make life impossible and they will self deport.

That is what most of us Americans who oppose illegal immigration desire. I would add to your solutions ending any benefits to them and birthright citizenship for their kids born on our soil. As you said, many if not most would self-deport.

The powers that be already know what needs to be done to solve the problem. They instead have chosen to pander to 1 specific group. The irony of course is that this one specific group complains the most about being stereotyped as illegals and yet they also happen to be the ones demanding an amnesty for illegals.

Some call it Hispandering. I wish the GOP would knock it off. Write them a memo saying how their cheap labor force votes Dem and creates large numbers of legal voters. That ought to get it through their heads.
