The last generation of first generation Cubans are indeed conservative and Republican but the younger generation much less so. Many of them voted for Obozo despite Obozo's determination to take America down the path of socialism and Marxism through things like Obozocare and Obozocore (what many people now call the common core curriculum by Obozo's staff under his orders. The number of Democrats in Florida and South Florida is very disappointing.

My grandparents lived through the Communist Revolution in China and suffered greatly during those times. For me, to vote for a Democrat or support liberal policies, particularly Marxist type economic liberal policies like class warfare, racial struggle (which Obamacare is part of), raising the minimum wage, increasing union power, etc would be to betray them and their memory.

It would be completely unfair to them for Obozo to pass Dream Acts and amnesty bills that allow illegals to jump in line in front of them, to get the benefits of US citizenship without going through what my parents went through and having to wait their turn. Having kids in the US and working here does not change these peoples illegality and the need to punish them. I have yet to hear one logical argument from a liberal or Democrat on how its fair to LEGAL immigrants for illegal aliens to get the Dream Act or amnesty. I also do not have any extended family or relatives here who are illegal.

If the media is to be believed, however, the majority of Hispanic Americans including legal ones, including Cubans and Puerto Ricans, support illegal immigration and politicians must support illegal immigration in order to get the Hispanic vote. Is this out of racial solidarity, with the Hispanic voters putting their race and skin color before the good of the nation, and either the interests of their native country or their racial group before that of the United States? I also know a disappointing number of Asian Americans and legal African immigrants who support illegal immigration, who tell me they would not report someone they know is illegal. Some black people also compare the illegal alien movement to the civil rights movement, as if our current immigration laws are the same as Jim Crow laws (I wonder if this means they believe every single person in the world should be able to come to America without any restrictions and we should have completely open borders). Now some states have drivers licenses for illegals, and

Its also not true that illegals don't take jobs from Americans or legal immigrants. I know LEGAL immigrants and US citizens who do housekeeping and construction and those livelihoods have been negatively impacted.

As a minority and an American I am very disappointed and troubled by this trend, and it vindicates those who question the national loyalty of minority groups. I personally am an American first and support what best for my country overall. I think American interests should always come before anyone's race and anyone's country of origin.
If I immigrated to Mexico, I would not support illegal immigrants in Mexico because they were white. I would expect white immigrants in Mexico to obey Mexico's immigration laws and the rule of law. It seems many Mexican Americans resent white Americans putting any restrictions on legal or illegal immigration from Mexico.

Excellent question. I too have often wondered what vested interest legal immigrants, particularly Mexicans and other hispanics, have in promoting amnesty for their lawbreaking brethren.

It's disgusting.

Uh; it ain't just "white" people. Mexico treats "brown" illegal aliens from LatAm real bad.

I think it is a cultural thing and is about having a tribal mentality that trumps everything.

Had to include the entire post and bold what I liked most.
1. We will never hear a dem or liberal statement that does nothing but welcome them with open arms.
2. Celebrating one's heritage is fine as long as you don't trample the fact you may be a US citizen. Many forget that and in doing so have no concerns about the United States.
3. As far as not disclosing illegals, I have a tale. I lived in south TX for some time and made a living as a brick mason. I scared the hell out of them as they knew I moved down there from the north and actually knew the trade. I started as a laborer, served an apprenticeship and attending apprenticeship classes at night - the American way. I moved down there and went job hunting. There was plenty of work - I was the wrong color and knew the correct terminology for what they were doing. I hired on with a shoddy bunch and quit them before getting in with an actual company. When there, I had to repair the mortar mixers they had as well as drive the forklift on the job. Some American Mexicans I knew complained about not finding jobs but were all in favor of ******* (their wording) Tio Hernandez living there and working. The idiots didn't realize their illegal relatives were working the jobs they should have.
As far as ratting on an illegal...
They wouldn't if you guaranteed them a well paying job in a field of their choice.

It's had to fathom it until you live around it. A guy I know here in MD hires a Salvadoran woman to do his housework and I know she is illegal. She has a daughter in HS - the anchor baby - and a couple of younger kids. I don't know where they live but she always has a nice car. Too bad there isn't a bounty on illegals.

Although Hispanic citizen's job opportunities are also negatively impacted by cheap, illegal labor I don't believe they are impacted as much as white or black citizens. The reason being that the Hispanic citizen usually knows Spanish so they are in the position of being able to communicate with them. This gives them an advantage if they have some skills to be in management type positions over illegal alien Spanish speakers. The construction industry is a prime example of that. Of course the pro-illegal suggestion is for whites and blacks to learn Spanish rather than enforcing our immigration laws. Unreal, isn't it?

Maybe they relate to them if they have had relatives in the same boat. I have immigrant relatives also but they didn't sit here and not work and not become a citizen and send money to other countries.

But you are either a loyal, law abiding American or you're not. Shielding or desiring rewards for relatives who have broken the law is being neither especially when it negatively impacts one's fellow citizens. If I had relatives that violated the law especially if they were foreigners I would want them to face justice.
