I agree, this Chicago group interviews a bunch of people over the phone and takes their word on whether or not they are not only illegal, but just how often they use the ER and pay for their services. Then they draw conclusions from this and present it as above board.

It sounds like a biased poll that that was presented by someone with an agenda.

That poll was and is nothing but a joke and hoping that the dumbing down of the country that has been going on for so long will take effect for those to believe anything it has to say.

i think a lot of the anger here comes from people that are stuck working within the context our government has provided us...

they are a "burden". if they were legal, the sheer number of visits would be unlikely to change. if this is a staffing issue, then we need to invest more into our healthcare system, so we can have a larger available fleet of nurses and doctors.

they get it free. sure, and we should too. making them pay is going to do very little to ease our financial strain. 1.5 billion, divided amongst 150 million (liberal estimate attempting to exclude non-taxpayers), only saves each person $10/year. the fact is, we should all have the option of getting it free. dennis kucinich has a plan for turning the healthcare industry into non-profit. that would prevent us from paying extra into it. it would most likely save us money.

are there any other complaints?

Yeah, they're a burden on our healt care industry.

The simple solution is to have the hospitals call immigration whenever an illegal is treated. Then grab him and deport him, as well as any visitors the illegal has with him that may be illegal as well.

1. What "anger here"? Where? What are you interpreting as anger?

2. A fleet doesn't describe human beings - it is for vessels or cars. You can call a group of nurses or doctors a team or staff, not fleet (or flock, for that matter).

3. "If they were legal" - that is like my saying, "If I was born a man, I would be able to write my name in the snow".

4. Free - do you not get the concept that nothing is "free"? The hospital staff expects to get paid. The suppliers want to be compensated for their supplies. And the same all the way down the line.

The middle class, through paying taxes, provides the social services for the lower classes. It is not a bottomless well, where we just reach in and grab wads of money to ensure everyone gets a share. You claim that you don't endorse communism/socialism for the US, but your ideals speak otherwise.

you do not have means to be reborn as a man. we have means of giving illegals a fair path to legality. that is the difference.

the US government makes its own money, outside of income taxes. they have the means to reallocate funding into the healthcare system without it costing us a penny.

did you know that 100% of our income tax goes towards paying off interest on every dollar the federal reserve (private company) prints? they charge us over a dollar for every dollar they make. that is where your money goes.

communism, no. socialism, yes. not a full socialist government, though. a hybrid socialist/capitalist government, like we already have, just better adjusted.

we have plenty of money that we are wasting in wars, foreign military bases, federal reserve interest payouts, etc. that we can reallocate to finance these social services, living wage increases, and vital industries such as healthcare.

if every single illegal immigrant left our country today, things wouldnt be that much better for us. the massive bulk of the responsibility falls in our own laps and the laps of our elected officials, who choose how to appropriate america's wealth.

At least put the anger where it belongs.

If illegal immigrants do cost Americans $1.5 Billion (the respected Johns Hopkins article posted earlier said $1.1 Billion, but lets go with the higher number to be on the safe side), how much of a percentage of our total health care bill is that?

0.075%

Yep, I think even Jesus would advocate a 0.075% increase in health-care costs to help save the lives of fellow human beings, regardless of status.

That doesn't mean you have to love and accept the idea of people being here illegally, but please don't use health-care costs as the reason.

I'd be willing to bet that the executive pay raises/bonuses for only the folks who don't deserve it at even one major health insurance/pharmaceutical company exceeded the $1.5 billion mark, and I'm sure they passed the costs on to us.

That is but one piece of the puzzle Evlevo. Combined, the cost to hospitals and the infrastructure of this country is much, much more. I think this has been covered pretty well in the zillion other topics on this forum. BTW, please back up those figures so a more accurate comparison can be made.
